The rumor mill is churning that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has split up with longtime beau Riley Roberts after the ambitious political climber publicly announced that she’s freezing her eggs.
AOC’s Saturday Instagram video grabbed headlines as the socialist diva edges toward a potential 2028 White House run, but also added to the growing speculation that she’s on the outs with Roberts after the pair were engaged in 2022 but have yet to tie the knot four years later.
In her announcement, the New York City Democrat said that one reason for the egg freezing was to be “more in control of my life,” a remark that further piqued the interests of inquiring minds and those addicted to celebrity gossip who interpreted it as a sign that the 36-year-old “Squad” leader has moved on from the bearded redhead, always an odd couple.

Some have noticed that Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t been seen wearing her engagement ring, which according to the New York Post, “was noticeably absent in May when the pair was photographed together at a Manhattan burger joint.”
“Breakup rumors have spread among the Democrat party, with one insider speculating that they split because of her ambitions to seek higher office,” the Gotham-based tabloid reported as AOC looks to capitalize on the socialist wave for either a presidential bid or a run to dislodge embattled Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer from the seat that he currently occupies.
Ocasio-Cortez was noticeably vague when she was caught up with and asked by a reporter about how Roberts felt about her egg freezing.

“All of my loved ones have been very supportive,” AOC said.

“There’s a reason Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t mentioning her fiancé Riley Roberts when she talks about freezing her eggs … TMZ has confirmed they broke up,” the outlet reported on Tuesday, citing an X post from Puck News’ Leigh Ann Caldwell.
“I was told by a reputable Democratic source about 18 months ago that her engagement was called off,” wrote the chief Washington correspondent for Puck. “AOC stopped wearing her engagement ring several months before that. There have been no public photos of her and Riley together in recent history.”
Caldwell added, “Maybe they have gotten back together? I have no idea. Her office has not confirmed nor denied the status of her relationship.”
