Veteran political strategist James Carville didn’t hold anything back in another of his foul-mouthed diatribes, this time directing fire against his own troops.
The return of Donald J. Trump, who’ll be surfing into Washington, D.C. on the wave of an indisputable mandate this time, has ripped apart the Democratic Party’s big tent with the cavalcade of clowns all pointing fingers at each other over what went wrong.
In a salty election postmortem, the 80-year-old “Ragin’ Cajun” unloaded on arrogant D.C. Dems and their “identity sh*t” during a lengthy rant on the latest edition of the Politicon podcast.

“Let’s get it there and let’s act like an opposition party. I mean, yeah, an opposition party. We have no power, you understand that?” Carville said of the new reality for Dems. “None, None. We have no legislative power, we have no executive power, we have no judicial power. So when you’re out of power, you’re an opposition party.”
“And go and tell all the people that are sending you and asking you for money, justify what you did, justify what you did wrong, and tell us what you’re going to do different,” he continued, advising that there needs to be some conditions placed on the party of haughty Beltway leftists who went down with the ship along with Kamala Harris.
“Because what you’ve done ain’t worth a sh*t, alright?” Carville added. “Get — get your head around that. And all of the Washington-based Democrats fartin’ around going to wine and cheese parties and talking about how misogynistic the race is, get your ass out of Washington, and go work on a 2026 campaign and do penance to make up for your godd**n arrogance and stupidity.”
“So we’re not gonna say, well, we’re gonna say we told you so, we told you this identity sh*t was a disaster,” he scolded. “We told you to get out in front of public safety issues. You didn’t, you didn’t. We told you to have an open process and demonstrate the magnificent, staggering, and deep talent that exists in the modern Democratic party. You didn’t.”
“We told you to differentiate yourself from Biden. You didn’t. I hate to be some f**king know-it-all, but all of these things are part of the record,” Carville said, later adding that the embrace of defunding the police and other progressive ideas are a part of what he called a “stupid Godd**n identitarian mission.”
“The entire era of jackassery,” he said, defining the last several years of the “woke” movement that dominated the party and doomed it last week.
It had to be tough for Carville to watch his party take the identity plunge, completely eschewing his iconic slogan that “it’s the economy stupid” that’s long been credited as the decisive factor that won the 1992 election for Bill Clinton.
Comrade Bernie Sanders wasn’t as caustic about the “identity sh*t” but took a flamethrower to Harris and the Democrat establishment for ignoring the working class.
It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.

“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,” the Vermont senator said in a statement after the election was called for Trump. “First, it was the white working class, and now it is Latino and black workers as well. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.”
As much of a dumpster fire as it turned out to be with Harris’ loss, it’s not going to be so easy for the Democrats to simply walk away from the “identity sh*t” which is now more like a religion than a political philosophy to them.
