U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna announced on Tuesday via Twitter that a second censure vote against U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., will be held on Wednesday.
Luna was behind the first resolution that failed last week when 20 Republican lawmakers aligned with Democrats to oppose it — being that Congress is first and foremost about self-preservation, these lawmakers were opposed to a $16 million fine being attached to the measure, surely thinking that a fine for thee could ultimately result in a fine for me.
“Censure vote will be tomorrow. A majority of 20 are switching their vote to support the new resolution and some members who were out of town will be voting with us,” Luna tweeted. “Based on our count, Adam Schiff will be investigated by ethics and censured. Thank you to my colleagues for working with us. Accountability will be RESTORED in the House of Representatives.”

The new resolution does not include the fine and Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters he now expects the revised resolution censuring Schiff for repeatedly lying about the Russia collusion hoax to pass.
But is “accountability” restored if an essentially toothless measure passes — this being a GOP staple. Social media user Tom Odell offered an astute take on that, suggesting that the action is little more than a “nothing burger.”
“This is not a slap on Anna. She’s doing the best she can with no support from her fellow Republicans,” he tweeted. “But let’s not mince words here. This is a nothing burger. There is no penalty. The whole thing will be forgotten in 1 hour after it’s over.”
“What needed to happen is for a vote of expulsion to remove him from the House. That would have been the appropriate measure. Instead, we’re just going to see a very light slap on the wrist. He doesn’t lose his seat. He doesn’t lose the right to vote in the House. Virtually nothing is any different after the passage of this censure … assuming it really does even pass,” he continued. “Hillary Clinton destroyed thousands of confidential documents. Nothing was done. Adam Schiff lied to the American people, spent millions on nothing. And he’ll get away with it all.”

The tweet came the same day Hunter Biden scored a sweetheart deal with the Justice Department under his father, President Joe Biden, walking away from a long history of suspect behavior with just a slap on the wrist.
“Hunter Biden has got to be the greatest criminal this country has ever seen since Al Capone. And he’s getting away with everything too,” Odell noted. “Democrats are never held accountable for their crimes. Never. Never. Never. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is facing life [imprisonment] for a bunch of nonsense charges. We’re losing our country. And no one’s doing a damn thing about it.”
While Democrats charge into the breach to impeach a Republican president not once, but twice, GOP lawmakers do little more than grandstand at press conferences and send stern letters amid the growing likelihood that President Biden may be the most corrupt president in modern history.
