In another of the lowball moves that have been his official brand, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has placed an indefinite hold on President Donald J. Trump’s pick for the U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C.
On Tuesday, the serial liar and conspiracy monger announced that he is blocking Ed Martin from being confirmed as the top federal prosecutor in the nation’s capital, a city that is rife with corruption and desperately in need of a no nonsense guy like “Ed the Eagle” who has been serving as acting U.S. attorney since Trump took office.
BREAKING: I’m placing a hold on President Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney in DC.
For the past few weeks, Ed Martin has been a one-man wrecking ball. Threatening opponents, firing public servants, and using his office to chill free speech.
His nomination must be blocked.

“I’m placing a hold on President Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney in DC,” Schiff proclaimed in a post to X. “For the past few weeks, Ed Martin has been a one-man wrecking ball. Threatening opponents, firing public servants, and using his office to chill free speech. His nomination must be blocked.”
Senators can place a hold on a president’s nominees, which significantly stalls the process, forcing the Senate to use significant floor time to overcome such maneuvers.
“In every way he can, Ed Martin has demolished the firewalls between the White House and his own office within the Department of Justice. Confirming him to serve permanently in the role he has already abused in his interim capacity would cross the prosecutorial Rubicon that every single Senator would come to regret and that would threaten the rights of Americans from all walks of life,” Schiff said in a statement devoid of irony considering how the DOJ was weaponized against Trump and his supporters during Joe Biden’s presidency.
“For the past nine weeks, Ed Martin has consistently undermined the independence and abused the power of the U.S. Attorney’s office in DC – openly threatening and intimidating political opponents, dismissing charges against his own clients, firing public servants for their roles in legitimate investigations, and using his office as a cudgel to chill dissent and free speech,” the newly minted Democrat senator continued.
In February, Martin shared a letter with Elon Musk vowing that those who threatened him and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees would be punished and that his office would chase the perps “to the end of the earth to hold them accountable.”

“No one embodies Donald Trump’s personal weaponization of the Justice Department more than Ed Martin. He is unfit to serve as a lawyer, let alone one with the resources – and cover from the Senate – to further twist the power of the law and law enforcement to go after Americans who stand up for the rule of law and for our democracy,” Schiff said in his statement.
Schiff also bestowed high praise on his colleague Cory Booker for the performative New Jersey windbag’s grandstanding 25-hour anti-Trump rant, even joining him for the clown show.
I’m in the Senate chamber with @SenBooker, ready to help him hold the floor. Tune in: https://t.co/i3KewuFsfh

Obstruction and stunts, it’s all the Democrats have.
He may have been a recipient of one of Joe Biden’s last-minute preventive pardons but Schiff is hedging his bets by seeking to sink Martin’s nomination. Whether or not his gambit is successful remains to be seen.
