Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is making it clear he is not a fan of gerrymandering, no matter who is doing it.
The actor took to X with a taunting post aimed at current Governor Gavin Newsom’s threat of retaliatory gerrymandering. Newsom is planning to move forward with redistricting after President Donald Trump encouraged Texas to redraw congressional maps to give the GOP more power.
But ‘The Terminator’ doesn’t appear to be on board with the political tit-for-tat:

“I’m getting ready for the gerrymandering battle,” the post reads. Attached is a photo of Schwarzenegger lifting weights while wearing a shirt that says “F**k the politicians. Terminate gerrymandering.”
The message comes after Newsom has vowed to “meet fire with fire” in the redistricting fight.
“Here we are in open and plain sight before one vote is cast in the 2026 midterm election, and here [Trump] is once again trying to rig the system,” he accused, adding that his plan is “not complicated. We’re doing this in reaction to a president of the United States that called a sitting governor in the state of Texas and said, ‘Find me five seats.’ We’re doing it in reaction to that act.”
X users had mixed reactions to the actor’s message:
California Republicans are 40% of the vote and have only 20% of the seats. I look forward to you taking this issue head on.

You are aware as former governor that California is already gerrymandered.

Terminate gerrymandering nationwide or don’t do it at all

Help, Arnold. Something has to be done to make politics about serving the people and not just trying to hold office.

Sit down you traded your relevance for getting some likes from communists.

This is the side we all need to be. End all gerrymandering!

Does he think he’ll have to pick up the district boundaries and move them?
— CommonSense (@Smatterchuboy) August 15, 2025
So you are going to fight gerrymandering with more gerrymandering after California was already gerrymandered?
— God & Country (@GodandCountryy) August 15, 2025
You never cared until the communists told you to care so don’t start now.

Lol, could you please tell the dems this, they have been doing it in decades.

The solution matters here. Arnold let the effort to get to the current redistricting effort in California but its resulting in even worse representation overall.
