Talk show host Bill Maher’s seeming political shift has some wondering if he will soon abandon the Democrat Party.
But political commentator Scott Adams thinks you shouldn’t hold your breath.
“I continue to marvel at the fact that he’s becoming more and more of a Republican right before our eyes, but probably never will get there,” the “Dilbert” creator said in a recent episode of his “Real Coffee with Scott Adams” podcast.

“It’s just fun to watch the gravity. It’s just pulling him so hard that just a little by little he’s like, ‘Well, okay, maybe he has a point on that thing, but let me tell you all these other things I disagree with,'” Adams continued, referring to Maher’s defense of President Donald Trump.
Adams noted how the liberal comedian gave Trump credit for some recent policies. However, he did call Maher out for acting like he has “insider knowledge” about Trump’s stance on war when everyone who has paid attention already knew the president’s very vocal anti-war sentiments.
He also questioned Maher’s IQ in claiming that Trump has been overly friendly to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Now, does Bill Maher really not know that international relations work better if you don’t demonize the person you’re forced to negotiate with? Is he the only person in the world who doesn’t know that?” Adams asked.
“I mean, that’s what’s left of his criticisms of Trump are stuff like he was overly friendly to Putin. That’s it? ” he continued. “That’s not even a flaw. That’s just somebody who knows how to do hs job really well.”
Earlier this year, Adams said it was “hilarious to watch Bill Maher become more and more pro-Trump, but still have to look balanced.”

Special media users weighed in on Maher’s political shift and where he may likely end up if his party of choice continues to crash and burn.
What really surprises me is Bill Maher is a relatively smart man.
He was truly a believer…
Or has he always Known the truth and just doing the Jimmy Kimmel thing ?— Barry L.A. (@barry_angeles) August 16, 2025
Bill Maher has long stretches of great clarity, interrupted by violent episodes of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
