Scott Jennings offers to apologize to Catherine Zeta-Jones personally ‘over dinner’ for trouncing son on CNN

After schooling the nepo baby of a pair of Hollywood celebrities, commentator Scott Jennings offered a suggestion on what he’d be “more than willing” to do to make up for it.

Early in November, a matchup between the senior political commentator and the host of the SiriusXM show “Young American with Dylan Douglas” found the latter made to look the fool through stuttering. Now, after the 25-year-old’s parents, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, were said to be “furious” over the interaction, Jennings joked about his willingness to “apologize personally.”

Joining the “Citizen McCain” podcast with host Meghan McCain, Jennings was prompted about the reported response from the actors, to which he said, “I’m more than willing to apologize personally to Catherine Zeta-Jones over a nice seafood dinner if she wants to do it.”

The commentator went on to reveal, “Dylan was actually really nice off the air. He was very nice, I think he was honored to be there.”

“We had what is relatively a normal, kind of exchange. He made his Democratic talking points. I dismantled him. This is not an uncommon thing that happens on CNN,” added Jennings, who went on, “But I think that what happens generally with some of these folks is that they exist in a very tight little bubble. They never really talk to Republicans or conservatives. They don’t really get outside of their bubble where everyone tells them how smart and good-looking they are, and then they wind up on television with someone of a different persuasion, and it is surprising to them.”

As was reported, the Hollywood couple’s frustration was said to have centered around “the golden boy” having “never been spoken to like that in his entire life,” after the CNN pundit countered Douglas’ talking points with facts. The supposedly ‘unfair and exploitative” interaction found the parents potentially willing to “blacklist the whole network” going forward.

In response to the presented ire, Jennings also quoted Michael Douglas’ character, Gordon Gecko from the film “Wall Street,” as he wrote on X, “The public’s out there throwing darts at boards, Sport. I don’t throw darts at a board. I bet on sure things. Read Sun-tzu, ‘The Art of War.’ Every battle is won–before it’s ever fought.”

Meanwhile, McCain contended putting Douglas on the show up against Jennings was akin to “bringing a knife to a gun fight, quite frankly,” as she reflected on a similar situation she once had while referring to herself as the “queen of nepo babies.”

“I have been Dylan Douglas,” said the host, recounting an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” with Paul Begala, the chief strategist for President Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign. “But what didn’t happen is my parents didn’t have a meltdown. My dad was like, ‘Buck up and move on.'”

Ultimately, Jennings expressed, “I hope Dylan comes back. I’m sure he’ll get better at it.”
