Self-avowed socialist, San Fran lawmaker calls to have Blue Angels banned from city skies

A Democratic city council member from San Francisco, a self-avowed democratic socialist — is there another type of Democrat? — opted to pursue some cheap attention by declaring on social media that the famed Blue Angels should not be allowed to fly over his city.

The popular U.S. Navy squadron was scheduled to participate in a Fleet Week show on Sunday, but their appearance was canceled due to weather conditions, and that’s where District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston came into play.

“The Blue Angels should not be allowed to fly over San Francisco. That’s it. That’s the tweet,” the Democrat tweeted.

The Blue Angels’ official Twitter account announced the cancellation in a tweet, citing the weather.

“We want to send a special thank you to the city of San Francisco for the hospitality,” the post added, “and we are looking forward to clearer skies next year, at San Francisco Fleet Week 2023!”

Suffice it to say, social media users weren’t surprised to see a liberal San Francisco Democrat dumping on an American tradition… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
