Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) savaged former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci during “Sunday Morning Futures” with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, accusing him of orchestrating a cover-up of the origins of COVID.

Paul has not forgotten or forgiven Fauci’s role in the pandemic and he’s not finished going after him despite his so-called retirement, resigning from NIAID after more than three decades.

In fact, Fauci just appeared in Italy contending that the world must stay vigilant as new variants of COVID will allegedly surface that are resistant to current treatments and immunities.

The interview with Bartiromo began with Paul blasting Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates for funding organizations such as the World Health Organization. He also accused Gates of funding gain of function research.

“The blame equally should go not only to Chinese authorities but to Anthony Fauci and all those who advocated for this,” he commented. “Look, Bill Gates has been over there recently. Bill Gates is the largest funder of trying to find these viruses in remote caves and bring them to big cities. What happened in China is they went 8 to 10 hours south of Wuhan, 2 to 300 feet deep into a cave, found viruses, and took them back to a city of 15 million.”

“[Many scientists think] we don’t need to be searching for viruses that may never interact with man, and it’s worse than that,” Paul added. “They bring viruses that we may never interact with. They bring them back to the lab, but then they manipulate them by combining them with other viruses to create viruses that don’t exist in nature.”

“But this has largely been funded by Bill Gates, who funds the WHO more than most countries do. So there’s a responsibility there,” Paul charged. “He’s inadvertently helped to create something… that the biggest danger to mankind right now is something that he’s been funding, and that is finding these viruses, taking them back to the lab, and manipulating them to make them more dangerous.”

But Paul’s primary target in all this is Fauci, who he believes is behind the cover-up of the origins of COVID-19 and that he knew full well the dangers of the virus from the beginning.

“What about Anthony Fauci’s accountability, and is the media complicit?” Bartiromo asked.

“What we know is from the very first days of the pandemic in January of 2020, Anthony Fauci orchestrated an elaborate cover-up. He knew there was a problem. At three in the morning, he was emailing somebody on January 31st and that person was head of the committee that was supposed to review dangerous research. But Fauci allowed it to go around that. So he knew from the very beginning not only was he funding the Wuhan research, but he was going around the regulatory apparatus to let it happen, even though the rules said it shouldn’t have happened without more scrutiny,” the senator asserted.

“So he knew this from the beginning and it was an active cover-up. He actively got papers placed that were not valid papers into large scientific journals. So, yes, there was a cover-up from the very beginning, but a real judgment error. And this is a man, Anthony Fauci, who said in 2012 that this kind of research to create a new virus was so important that even if a pandemic should take place, that it’d be worth the knowledge. I think there’s several million people, particularly a million Americans, who would question whether that was good judgment or not,” Paul contended.

To regulate gain-of-function research, Paul called for an “international consortium of countries” to agree to restrict the practice. He warned that if they fail to take action the outcome of the next pandemic could be even more catastrophic and deadly.

“There are people estimating that the next time this happens, the next time we have a leak from a lab, that between five and 50% of the population could die from another manmade virus. So this is very, very serious,” he pointed out. “This is up there with nuclear arms control. This is up there with the danger of nuclear war. But this is much more insidious. It’s harder to trace. But still, millions of people can die from a manmade virus.”
