‘Send more money’: Candace Owens slams covert message in government sponsored Super Bowl ads

Conservative commentator Candace Owens unloaded on the trend of tugging at heartstrings to make Americans feel bad and “do something” about overseas conflicts and issues.

Specifically, the 34-year-old host of “The Candace Owens Show” and founder of the #Blexit movement took aim at million-dollar ads that ran during the Super Bowl game on Sunday. Focusing her ire on the Israeli government for accepting aid from the U.S. but then allegedly spending $14 million on two ads about freeing hostages being held by Hamas terrorists.

Owens questioned the motive behind airing political material during a sports game.

“The government themselves sponsored two commercials at the Super Bowl,” she said, noting that each ad that runs during the NFL championship game this year can cost $7 million.

“So that means that the Israeli government spent 14 million dollars for a prime-time spot,” she said. “Their commercials were basically them saying that there are hostages and they intend to get the hostages and bring the dead home that are being held by Hamas.”

One of the ads aimed to “bring all dads back home.”

“To all the dads, the funny ones… the adventurous, to all the dads held in captivity by Hamas for over 120 days we vow to bring you home…” the 30-second spot says.

Owens questioned the timing of the airing of the commercials.

“There’s nothing that we, as the American people, can do about that hostage effort over there,” she said. “So what it’s supposed to do, it’s supposed to pull at your heartstrings and make you not ask any questions about what they’re doing overseas.”

Owens mentioned a third pro-Israel ad that urged viewers to call their government representatives and ask them to “send more money.”

“Still pretty sure I live in America so I am not really sure this reads to me,” she said, likening the appeal to the multiple appearances by Ukraine President Zelenskyy asking for money.

“It is telling us, again, that we need to care about something overseas. Why would we call our rep to do something that has nothing to do with America?” Owens asked.”I’m going to call my rep, I’m going to demand that they close up our borders and do something about that issue.”

“But again, every single time you are going to have any entertainment in America now, you are going to start to see this sort of effort to remind you to feel bad and do something,” Owens concluded. “And that something that you can do, by the way, is get to work because it’s Monday and somebody somewhere needs your money.”
