While “The View” may not be anyone’s go-to show for news and opinion, one can always count on the co-hosts to say the quiet part out loud.
On Tuesday’s edition of the ABC daily talk show, the co-hosts were discussing the recent bombshell report that President Joe Biden kept classified documents from his time as vice president at a private office. Naturally, the ladies conveniently found a difference between this case, and the case of former President Donald Trump, whose Mar-a-Lago residence was raided to obtain classified documents he had in his possession.
In their desperate attempt to run interference for Biden, co-host Joy Behar pointed out the obvious: There’s a double standard at work.
“There are differences in what happened. We all know that Trump is a liar and a thief, you know, we know that,” she said to cheers and applause from the audience. “So it’s not that big a jump to say he obstructed and he lied. We don’t think Biden is a liar and a thief we give him the benefit of the doubt. They’ll spin it. Bobblehead and [Representative] Marjorie Taylor Greene and [Representative] Matt Gaetz, you don’t think they’ll spin this?”
Ironically ignoring her own spin job, Behar employed the classic Democrat tactic of blaming Trump for everything.
“The lying has been so invasive. You can put that at the feet of Donald Trump,” she snapped pointedly.
But while Behar may be confident in her morally-dubious assessment, CNN analyst John Miller is not so sure.
Miller admitted on ‘CNN This Morning’ that the recent news has made the optics of the DOJ’s handling of Trump’s case that much more difficult.
“We’re talking about political street fighting here that is going to go on, with control of the House now, at a fairly high pitch,” he said. “And, you know, if you take the purely legalistic side of it and you get into the optics and the politics, what happened here is going to make it almost impossible to charge Donald Trump with any violation of classified documents.”
