‘She just became a big story’: Reporter hits Trump in the face with boom mic

President Donald Trump was tapped on the face with a microphone on Friday evening, and social media has a lot to say about it.

Trump, despite being visibly annoyed immediately after the reporter brushed his face with a microphone, joked that the woman responsible had just become “a big story.” However, one X account wondered how it was possible for the reporter to get so close to the POTUS in the first place. They even suggested that someone with more sinister motives could have used the “security failure” to their advantage.

“An assassin with a ricin tipped microphone (an amount of only a few specs of dust would suffice) could kill the president in this manner. This is a security failure. How many attempts on Donald Trump’s life must be made before Secret Service tightens up?” the account posted alongside video of the brush.

“I appreciate Senator Schumer, and I think he did the right thing,” the president was saying of Senator Chuck Schumer, who crossed the aisle to vote for the six-month spending bill. “Really, I’m very impressed by that.”

“You’re concerned about the situation in Gaza,” the reporter asked. “What are the hopes now to get the hostages back?”

At this point the microphone rubs against the president’s face briefly, prompting visible discomfort before he cracks a joke.

“This is great television tonight,” Trump said. “She just became a big story tonight. Right? Did you see that?”
