Country Music Television’s decision to pull a song by Jason Aldean because it offended leftists has conservatives crying foul.
As previously reported, CMT pulled Aldean’s song “Try That In A Small Town” after leftists, including congressional Democrats, complained about its lyrics.
The song lyrics essentially center around a small-town man who’s warning criminals, particularly violent rioters/looters, that the people in his town won’t tolerate their bull.
For singing this song, Aldean has been widely condemned by the pro-criminal left. Yet the country music star still has his defenders, including conservatives like, as an example, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
“The Left is now more concerned about @Jason_Aldean’s song calling out looters and criminals than they are about stopping looters and criminals. That tells you everything you need to know about the priorities of Democrats and woke companies like CMT that cave to the liberal mob,” she tweeted Wednesday.

She had a point, no? For years now, the left has propped up violent rioters/looters and criminals, portraying them as “peaceful protesters” and “victims” of police brutality.
Meanwhile, the Democrat Party has whitewashed all the damage and harm violent rioters/looters have caused, particularly during the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020.
Some would say it’s almost as if the Democrat Party is the pro-criminal party. That’d explain so much, including the party’s incessant rush to defend the bad guys.
Sanders wasn’t alone in her defense of Aldean. Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also joined the bandwagon.
“Jason Aldean writes a song defending the values that ALL Americans used to share — faith, family, hard work, patriotism — only to be immediately sacrificed at the altar of censorship & cancellation,” he tweeted.
“These are the same people who cheer songs like ‘Cop Killer’ & the glorification of sex and violence in hip-hop. Stand strong against these hypocrites and opportunist frauds, @Jason_Aldean,” he added.

He had a point too, no? Many Democrats love to prop up violent, sexually explicit rap music. Yet the second a patriot sings a patriotic song riddled with quality, working-class values, that patriot is ferociously attacked? It doesn’t make much sense.
What also doesn’t seem to make much sense is the specific criticism Aldean is receiving. Take the criticism lodged by fellow country music singer Sheryl Crow.
In a tweet posted Tuesday, she accused Aldean of promoting violence. No joke.
Look:
.@Jason_Aldean I’m from a small town. Even people in small towns are sick of violence. There’s nothing small-town or American about promoting violence. You should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting.
This is not American or small town-like. It’s just lame https://t.co/cuOtUO9xjr
— Sheryl Crow (@SherylCrow) July 19, 2023
So according to Crow, if a law-abiding citizen responds to violence with violence — also known as self-defense — that counts as the promotion of violence?
Notice also what she said about mass shootings. It turns out Aldean had been performing live at Las Vegas Village when the 2017 Las Vegas shooting erupted. However, it’s unclear what the country music star’s status as a mass shooting survivor has to do with him writing a song about holding criminals accountable.

Then why aren’t you speaking out against Antifa/BLM rioting, assault, arson, literal insurrection, etc? Because you think they’re on “your” side?

Out of the thousands of violent songs that are released every year, an anti-crime country song is the one you complain about to go along with the crowd on the Left. Virtue signal harder, poseur.

Sheryl he’s saying if you carjack an old lady, sucker punch somebody, rob a store in a small town, a regular citizen might stand up for the victims. Why do you stand behind the people who attack old ladies, sucker punch people and rob stores instead of the ones who would protect?
— Conclusions On The Wall (@DonnieWittNow) July 19, 2023
I used to appreciate you because we’re both Missouri Tigers but now see you’re just another virtue-signaling sellout wanting to hinder any artistic expression that liberals don’t like. Where’s the consistency? Where were you when Ferguson was burned and looted because of a lie?

So just for clarification.
Are you saying you’re ok with the real like events depicted in his video, the events of 2020, overwhelming crime in big cites, but not the suggestion of people in small towns possibly protecting themselves from violence & crime?
Did I get this right?
