‘Show some guts’: Trump tells oil tankers is to buck up and get through Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump has a message for tanker crews making their way through the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the success of Operation Epic Fury and the subsequent military operations taking place in Iran, the Strait of Hormuz has become a point of concern for Americans worried about oil prices. Fox News’s Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade spoke to the president about the matter, where Trump suggested oil companies should “get to it” and “show some guts.”

Watch:

“Brian, did you have a phone interview with the president of the United States, what is his read on this?” co-host Lawrence Jones asked.

“I asked him, ‘How do you get the prices down? I know how much you care about oil and gas,’ and he says, ‘Tell these tankers to get themselves, get to it, We have wiped out most of their launchers.’ Here is exactly what he said, ‘These ships should go through the Strait of Hormuz and show some guts. There’s nothing to be afraid of. They have no Navy, we sunk all our ships.’ He went on to say ‘look, yeah, there is risk in the region, the region’s volatile. Launchers, just about 150 left. That’s just about 20% in total. They can’t regenerate and can’t make any more. We are in the region, we need to act quickly on all these types of attacks. I think they are going to get some additional naval assets in there to do some escorting, but there was a tanker that came through yesterday successfully, no problem. Is he saying come on, guys,” Kilmeade said.

“Only 3% of the oil we use here in America comes from that area. But it does supply oil, 20%, for the rest of the world,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt pointed out.

“We had [Energy Secretary Chris Wright] on the channel. He says these prices are not driven by a shortage, it’s about fear,” Jones added.

“We’ve been planning and talking about this, you know, for quite some time,” Wright said in the clip. “Energy markets are massively well-supplied right now. In fact, the run-up in prices has nothing to do with any shortage of barrels of oil or natural gas. It’s just fear and perception, the unknown that this could be some long, you know, drawn-out crisis. But it won’t be. As you heard from the general, progress is going very fast. The world is abundantly supplied with energy, thanks to President Trump’s energy dominance agenda. The United States is a net exporter of oil, net exporter of natural gas. We’re in contact with our allies. This is a disruption on the way to a better place to end a 47-year war against America.”
