The latest example of discrimination against supporters of the president found one smoothie company taking quick steps toward a remedy after a couple was literally shown the door.
Time and again, leftist demonization of President Donald Trump, his allies, and supporters has led to altercations from run-of-the-mill dirty looks to acts of physical violence. Though often unaddressed, the same could not be said after two employees at a Michigan Smoothie King were let go after failing to serve a couple over the husband’s Trump hoodie.
In a video shared to her TikTok, Erika Lindemyer captured the scene on Sunday at the Ann Arbor location where she and her husband, Jake, were told to leave after two employees claimed his hoodie made them uncomfortable.
“Tik tok please bring light to this situation. My husband and I were refused service because of a hoodie! How discriminating is this! @smoothieking do better! What happened to the land of the free because of the brave,” she captioned the video where she could be heard saying, “Yeah, we’re at Smoothie King and they’re discriminating and saying we cannot get service because Jake has a Trump [hoodie].”

“We were just wanting a smoothie and you literally looked at us and I asked you if everything was okay and you said, ‘We don’t feel comfortable serving you’ because of my husband’s hoodie. That is discrimination,” Lindemyer said over the counter as one employee responded, “Okay, well have a great day.”
While the customer insisted, “That is illegal,” the other employee defended their actions, arguing, “I said Trump discriminates [against] us.”
“Okay, well that has nothing to do with us getting a smoothie,” furthered Lindemyer as the employees claimed their right to refuse and repeated, “Have a great day. The door’s right there.”
Following the viral exchange, Smoothie King released a statement that confirmed the girls “are no longer with the business.”
“As a brand, Smoothie King is committed to ensuring our stores are a place free of discrimination of any kind, where are guest and team member is treated with care and respect. Following an investigation into an incident involving a guest who was refused service at a franchised location in Michigan yesterday, the franchise owner has taken immediate action and the two employees involved are no longer with the business,” Smoothie King stated on X. “Both the franchise owner and Smoothie King corporate have reached out to the guest several times to apologize and will continue to follow up. The local owner is also taking further action and enforcing mandatory retraining for all employees that outlines our guest experience standards.”

Elsewhere, one of the employees had positioned herself as a victim in the situation, demanding the video be removed from TikTok as she set up a crowdfunding page claiming it was “no longer safe to return” to her job.
“I am a minor and she recorded me without my permission. The people in the comments are all white and they’re all being hella racist,” said the now-former Smoothie King employee. “Guys, please help me get this video taken down.”
Meanwhile, the X account Leftism was calling for accountability for a Maryland Smoothie King owner who had since deleted his comment and made his accounts private after posting in response to the Lindemyers’ video, “I own a smoothie king as well. I wouldn’t have served them either. Bye bye.”
Meet Travis LeFlore.
In a now deleted tweet he commented about the couple who were refused service at a @SmoothieKing due to the husband wearing a Trump hoodie, saying that he owns a @SmoothieKing and that he’d do the same – meaning he would deny service to anyone who he believes… pic.twitter.com/oNxxXHF32A— Leftism (@LeftismForU) March 3, 2026
