A self-serving Jada Pinkett Smith became the central focus of a new skit slamming her for spitefully continuing her marriage.
“Nothing makes me feel stronger than publicly cuckin’ my millionaire husband.”
Along with considerable reminders about her connection to the late Tupac Shakur, Pinkett Smith’s publicity tour for her recently published book “Worthy” fleshed out the status of her marriage to Will Smith as the two have been separated since 2016.
The revelations seemed to put the final nail in the coffin for the cast of “Saturday Night Live” as to whether to be team Smith or team Chris Rock after the “slap heard ’round the world” at the 2022 Oscars, and the “Weekend Update” segment fully leaned into a caricature of the actress.
Portrayed by Ego Nwodim, it wasn’t long before descriptions of the state of their marriage led to the character of Pinkett Smith making light of extramarital affairs alongside segment host, Michael Che.
“You guys describe your marriage as ‘brutiful, as in brutal and beautiful,'” said Che before Nwodim joked, “Yep…other people describe it as ‘brunhealthy.'”
She continued boasting about how “great” she and Smith were doing before attesting to her own “solid, fortified place” because “nothing makes me feel stronger than publicly cuckin’ my millionaire husband.”

The segment had opened with Nwodim taking a jab at the number of interviews that Pinkett Smith had been taking part in to promote her book as she said, “Sorry if I seem a little tired. I’ve been on the ‘Today’ Show 14 times in three days.”
It was then that Che asked about the state of the Smith marriage she quipped, “the day we got married, I knew there was going to be trouble. At our wedding, someone stood up and objected…It was me.”
“But it’s okay because 23 years later, Will and I are still a unit. And it’s because we have learned that the secret to a successful marriage is: Never got to bed happy,” she continued.
Later, the character of Pinkett Smith would add, “Divorce is not an option…I have principles, Michael. If we got divorced, he would mess around and end up happy.”
In a public letter to his wife, Smith had expressed how the revelations in her book left him “shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place.”

Che used some of Smith’s own words in the skit and brought up the fact that “he called your marriage ‘a sloppy public experiment in unconditional love.'”
In response, Nwodim further portrayed the actress contending “that was actually in our vows.”
She even took a stab at Pinkett Smith’s statement that she hadn’t attended the infamous Oscars as Smith’s wife, “but I’m leaving here as your wife because we got a storm we’re going to have to deal with together,” by jesting should the couple ever “hit a rough patch, I’m gonna ask will to shoot Kevin Hart.”
