‘Snow White’ actress can’t help but create more headaches for already troubled remake

“Snow White” star Rachel Zegler is again facing backlash, this time for siding with the antisemites who’ve been hassling her co-star, Gal Gadot.

At issue is a series of tweets that Zegler posted after Disney published a trailer of “Snow White” this week.

Notice how she wrote “free palestine” in the second tweet. This has been interpreted by many as an attack on Gadot, an Israeli-born actress who’s been a staunch supporter of Israel in the Israel-Gaza conflict.

“Gadot has defended her home country from anger and criticism following the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre that killed around 1,500 people in the country,” Fox News notes. “Last year, the actress spearheaded the Hollywood screening of a 47-minute video of the atrocities committed by Hamas during the October 7 surprise attack on Israel.”

Because of Gadot’s role in “Snow White,” the film has faced a boycott from pro-Palestinian zealots — and in posting “free Palestine,” Zegler seemed to be tacitly endorsing the boycott, critics said.

But why? Some said it’s just jealousy. Others said otherwise.

Tablet Magazine deputy audience editor Isaac de Castro was even more critical of Zegler.

“She could have turned down this role instead of starring alongside Gal Gadot,” he tweeted. “She could have also not worked with Spielberg, who handed her her breakout role.”

“Instead, she’ll tweet petty slights aimed at her co-star to muddy the fact that she can’t even stick to her own principles when it’s inconvenient for her career,” he added.

But the toughest criticism aimed at Zegler has come from Israel’s consul general in New York, Ofir Akunis, who tore into her during a radio show interview this week, according to Ynet.

“I can’t stand it — it’s ridiculous,” he said of her views. “Shame on her, really. And if she wants to boycott Israel, if she wants to boycott the Israeli culture, it’s unbelievable, it’s ridiculous.”

“And I’m calling from here, to all the American citizens, to buy tickets to the next Gal Gadot movie,” he added.

This is the second time Zegler has stirred up controversy ever since “Snow White” was announced. As previously reported, despite starring in the film, she’s been relentlessly trash-talking it to the press.

Most recently, she accused the original Prince Charming of being a creepy stalker. She also said she “hated” the original “Snow White” and thought the storyline was “weird.”

And to top it off, Zegler gushingly claimed the new “Snow White” won’t be a traditional love story but rather a tale about women’s empowerment.
