Socialist Mamdani sports customized Carhartt jacket with embroidered message for snowstorm photo ops

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani raised eyebrows during a press conference on his first weather emergency.

But it wasn’t over anything he said or his plans to handle the massive snowstorm that hit the region. It was his “arsenal of very sick jackets,” according to GQ, which noted the city’s socialist mayor was seen sporting “an extremely GQ garment: a personalized Carhartt jacket.”

“Featuring a curlicued midcentury ‘The City of New York’ logo on the chest and ‘Mayor’ in bold across the left bicep, the jacket was custom-embellished by the Bushwick, Brooklyn-based company Arena Embroidery,” the outlet explained.

“No problem too big. No task too small,” was embroidered on the collar of the jacket.

Designer Rocco Arena told GQ he only had one week to come up with the embroidered jacket after a mutual friend connected him with Mamdani’s office.

The socialist mayor was seen in the same jacket, Carhartt’s “Full Swing Steel” canvas jacket in black, in photo ops as he shoveled snow in several NYC neighborhoods.

“And if you’re wondering why the mayor’s office would go through the trouble to secure splashy new outerwear for Hizzoner to wear during a January blizzard, it’s because there’s some precedent for extreme weather begetting high-visibility political events. Snowstorms have long been an aptitude test for New York City mayors, and this particular one put Mamdani’s capacity for dealing with big problems to the test,” GQ noted.

Evidently, Mamdani’s attire has been getting plenty of attention since his swearing in earlier this month, with eyes on his jackets, including a green “Department of Sanitation” jacket and an “Emergency Management” jacket.
