Independent journalist Nick Shirley shared his security concerns following the Somali daycare bombshell that stunned America.
Speaking on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast, Shirley was asked how he is protecting himself after his information was leaked by people who are clearly not pleased with his investigative work. He revealed the mindblowing lengths he’s had to go to now that he is a household name, practically overnight.

“It sucks, because now I have to have security,” Shirley said. “Like, I never expected to have to go film a video and have four security people inside a car watching around, or walking to the corner to make sure no threat comes. Because in Minnesota, I go to film part two, and a man, a Somali man, stops in the middle of the intersection, stops his car in the middle of the red light in the middle of the intersection, hops out, and literally tries to come and attack me.”
“What happened?” one of the co-hosts asks.
“Luckily, security was there to stop him … Like now I can’t just go and do stuff. I pissed off a pretty bad group of people to piss off — the Somalian population,” the journalist continued. “Because if you piss off one Somali, you’re pissing off the whole entire community.”
“Do you worry about, maybe, like you should wear a bulletproof vest or something?” the co-host wondered.
“Yeah, every time I’m out in public now, especially when I’m filming, I’m always wearing a bulletproof vest,” Shirley confirmed, also noting that he no longer takes Uber rides out of concern for his safety.
When livestreaming at protests, as many people do, Shirley reveals how poorly he is treated by attendees.
“I’m walking into the dens of the lions, bro. They like just come after me. They’ll literally come and swarm me,” he said.
Shirley’s report on questionable Somali daycares, including the “Quality Learing Center,” purported to expose a massive fraud scheme being carried out by immigrants here on American soil. It showed the “daycares” being run are either woefully vacant or entirely inactive, but suggested they are somehow still receiving tax benefits despite not appearing to be running. While this footage was shared on social media by the right, it was quickly called into question by leftists who found it to be inconvenient. It didn’t take long for people to claim that the Somali community was being “threatened,” and the people reportedly committing the fraud were portrayed as sympathetic parties.
