Like ants that just had their hill stomped on, Democrats are milling about in confusion over what went wrong that led to their deep losses in last week’s election when voters put Donald J. Trump back into the White House.
There’s been much early fingerpointing and Monday morning quarterbacking about who’s to blame and why but as the old Greek proverb goes, “a fish rots from the head down” and much of the responsibility for the electoral catastrophe can be laid directly at the feet of Kamala Harris herself.
Even though she had over a billion in cash and fawning media coverage, the Democrat nominee made several crucial missteps down the stretch during October, ceding the momentum to Trump who never relinquished it, and one particular decision was a real head-scratcher, chaining herself at the hip with disgraced ex-congresswoman Liz Cheney.
It’s not easy to put aside partisan loyalties, but Harris is working to create a big tent. Her campaign is not relitigating things that happened in the past.
When they took to the stage together, Harris and Cheney embraced that message.

For reasons that remain inexplicable to many, Harris chose to spend valuable time campaigning with Cheney after scoring the former J6 committee vice chair’s endorsement along with her notorious father Dick Cheney.
It was a move that further alienated Michigan Muslims and now there are reports that Democrat insiders were begging Team Harris to keep her distance from Cheney, advice that they refused to listen to in their arrogant and condescending manner.
What a surprise! Kamala’s Cheney pitch bombed with Republicans, Democrats and independents. Would have to be the dumbest campaign move in history. pic.twitter.com/5TQdn1vxuh

Several anonymous “Democratic operatives and insiders” told Rolling Stone that they tried in vain to convince Kamala’s campaign and the veep’s allies that “palling around with the Cheneys was a bad idea with little upside — and could harm Harris’ support among disaffected Democratic voters.”
“People don’t want to be in a coalition with the devil,” said one source close to the campaign, telling the outlet that they “reached out to several staffers in and around the campaign to voice concerns about the candidate embracing Dick and Liz Cheney.”
The source said that concerns about Dick Cheney especially were rudely dismissed, with the staffer blowing it off by responding “that it was not the staff’s role to challenge the campaign’s decisions.”
“Another Democratic operative close to Harrisworld says they sent memos and data to Harris campaign staffers underscoring how, among other things, Republican voters, believe it or not, vote Republican — and that the data over the past year screamed that Democrats instead needed to reassure and energize the liberal base and Dem-leaning working class in battleground states,” according to Rolling Stone.
“We were told, basically, to get lost, no thank you,” the operative said of the advice that went unheeded by the campaign which was then well on its way to a landslide loss.
X users had some thoughts.
Liz is hated by almost everybody. The fact that Kamala thought it was a good idea just shows what an idiot she was.
So a double whammy, Liz sucks, Kamala is stupid.

Turns out rejecting Jesus and embracing the Cheneys was a losing strategy

It’s honestly wild how Kamala’s pitch to Cheney backfired across the board. You’d think that pairing up with someone like Cheney would have gained some traction with moderates or Republicans, but it turned into one of the biggest misfires in political history. Talk about a flop!…

The one unifier when it comes to politics is that Dick Cheney (appropriate first name) is a terrible person. Why did @KamalaHarris think this was a winning endorsement?

I want to thank the Bulwark crowd for encouraging Kamala Harris to spend the final days of her campaign stumping with Liz Cheney
You guys couldn’t have been more helpful in getting Trump a second term

The hookup with her neocon galpal was far from the only thing that sank Kamala with the election turning into a laugher but with the pollsters predicting a razor-thin race at the time, it was a curious decision to campaign with the “Muslim hating warmonger” in Michigan.
“What really pushed me over the edge is when Kamala Harris brought Liz Cheney to our backyard,” said Muslim-American Dearborn Heights mayor Bill Bazzi who endorsed Trump.
