‘Sorry, WHAT?’ Senate ‘greenlights’ funds to be spent on trans experimentation on kids

Just when you think the feckless, Republican-led U.S. Senate can’t get any worse, they go and top themselves.

With Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) drawing heat from the right for his inability to pass the SAVE America Act to ensure election integrity ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, the upper chamber reportedly greenlighted billions of dollars to be spent on transgender experimentation on children this week after the Senate GOP adopted a budget resolution that includes a budget reconciliation package to fund immigration enforcement and reopen the Department of Homeland Security.

The resolution passed by a vote of 50-48 in the “dead of the night,” and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) took to social media to sound the alarm:

“In the dead of night, the Senate voted to allow billions in taxpayer money to go to trans treatments – hormones, puberty blockers – for MINORS. Unconscionable,” Hawley said in a post shared on X:

Hawley called on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) — the Republican-led House will have to pass the legislation — to “stop this abomination once and for all.”

“The Senate just greenlit billions of taxpayer dollars to fund transgender experimentation on our kids. The House must act to stop this abomination once and for all,” he posted.

“If the House fails to act immediately as part of reconciliation, billions of Federal dollars will go to Planned Parenthood and other medical ‘providers’ for hormones, puberty blockers, and irreversible treatments for minor children,” Hawley said in a letter to Johnson.

As for the SAVE America Act, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) tried to add core elements of the bill to a budget reconciliation package that could pass with a simple-majority vote, but four “Republicans” blocked the move. The usual suspects, Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), voted against Kennedy’s efforts.

“Unfortunately, Republican leadership in Washington still doesn’t seem to understand — or simply does not care — how much the party base has grown to loathe them.”

Here’s a sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
