Sparks fly when Fox host grills top Republican rep on immigration: ‘Look, please answer the question’

Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney has gone viral over his tough grilling of House Republican Conference chair Elise Stefanik.

Appearing on Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co” this Friday, Stefanik was asked to specify the GOP’s solution for all the illegal aliens currently in the U.S.

As seen in the video below, she was ultimately unable to answer the question:

“[President Joe Biden] has no solution. Do you?” Varney bluntly began by asking her.

“We do have a solution. House Republicans passed a border security bill, the strongest border security bill in the history of Capitol Hill. Plus, we have been …,” Stefanik started to reply before being cut off by the FBN host.

“But there’s five million illegals here already. It may stop it in the future. But you got five million here already,” Varney said.

His point was that a border security bill would only prevent more illegal aliens from flooding the United States — it wouldn’t do anything about the illegals already here.

Stefanik disagreed with the host’s conclusion.

“It does stop it in the future. You do stop that, you know, attraction for illegals to come to the United States because they see amnesty policies of Joe Biden. We need to be a country that’s based upon the rule of law. We need to strengthen our legal immigration system. We should not be rewarding breaking the law,” she said.

Her point was that securing the border would greatly deincentivize illegal migration:

As she spoke, Varney kept asking, “What do we do with them?”

“At the moment, we’re feeding them, housing them,” he added once she’d finished speaking.

“That is unacceptable, and certainly I don’t support that,” Stefanik replied.

“Shall we let them work?” the host then asked.

“I have supported strengthening our legal immigration system. We want a legal process to come to the United States,” the GOP congresswoman replied.

Fed up with the lack of substantive answers, Varney then snapped.

“Look, please answer the question!” he bellowed.

“There are five million people illegally here under the Biden administration,” he added before being cut off by Stefanik this time.

“They are not American citizens,” the congresswoman said.

“They’re not. Ok, fine. What are you going to do with them?” Varney then said, repeating his earlier question now for the third or fourth time.

“And we should not reward that,” Stefanik replied, totally avoiding the question but continuing her previous thought.

“But we’re paying for them. We’re paying for them,” Varney shot back.

“We have legal work visa programs that need to be strengthened. We should never support amnesty,” Stefanik replied.

“What do you do with the five million you got?” the FBN host asked again.

“They’re not American citizens, and it’s Joe Biden’s catastrophic crisis …,” the GOP congresswoman tried replying before being cut off by the host.

“But you’re not going to throw them out, are you?” Varney said.

“Certainly,” Stefanik promptly replied.

“No, you’re not. That is impossible,” the host responded, referencing the logistical nightmare involved in trying to deport millions upon millions of illegal aliens.

Stefanik evidently took this to mean Varney’s pro-amnesty …

“If you’re pro-amnesty, I don’t support illegal immigration,” she said.

“I’m not pro-amnesty. I just want to know what you’re going to do with the five million we’ve got,” the host replied, reiterating his question for the last time.

“Well, obviously, Mayor Adams doesn’t have an answer to the question. Joe Biden doesn’t have an answer to the question. Republicans’ answer to the question is, we need to secure the border. Then we can strengthen our legal immigration system. But we should not be rewarding illegals for pouring into this country. The American people do not support that,” Stefanik replied.

“But I’m supporting them,” Varney shot back, referencing data showing that illegals collect a boatload of taxpayer-funded government welfare.

The host then concluded the interview.

“Elise Stefanik, that was good. Thank you very much for addressing the question head-on. we appreciate that,” he said.

Under President Joe Biden, millions upon millions of additional illegal aliens have crossed into the U.S. with the purpose of attempting to settle here.

“Some 2.7 million migrants—those who illegally entered or were otherwise inadmissible at a port of entry—were encountered at our borders in FY 2022, bringing the total under President Biden to a whopping 5.5 million,” Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, announced in a press release last October.

“One thing is clear: These record-breaking numbers are a direct consequence of open-borders policies implemented by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the person who appointed him, President Joe Biden,” Stein added.
