Spotify exec lets loose on ‘f***ing grifters’ Harry and Meghan: ‘Shoot this guy into the sun’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s celebrity may have lost a bit more shine this week as an announcement about their relationship with Spotify was capped by one executive’s hot take on the “f*cking grifters.”

Known for kvetching about their privacy, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have frequently found themselves the butt of jokes after inking numerous multi-million deals to remain in the spotlight. Now, roughly two and a half years after signing a contract with streaming service Spotify that was supposed to be a multiyear podcast partnership, a joint statement was released announcing the end of the agreement.

“Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together,” the announcement read of the $25 million deal, according to The Big Lead, that had produced only 12 episodes amounting to about as many hours in content.

Reacting to the news on his own podcast, Bill Simmons, Spotify’s head of global sports content said, “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. ‘The f*cking grifters.’ That’s the podcast we shoulda launched with them. I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try to help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”

The remark was not the first time that Simmons had opined on the victim card-playing, royal boat rockers. In January, the host called out Harry’s lack of contribution to the platform and to society itself.

“Shoot this guy to the sun. I’m so tired of this guy. What does he bring to the table? He just whines about sh*t and keeps giving interviews,” Simmons argued. “Who gives a sh*t? Who cares about your life? You weren’t even the favorite son.”

“I can’t stand him,” he went on. “So tired. I’m so embarrassed I f*cking have to share Spotify with him, the guy sucks,” he added. “It’s embarrassing that he’s on our platform.”

“What does he do? What’s your talent? Why are we listening to you?” Simmons asked of Harry. “So you were born into the royal family and then you left. You live in f*cking Montecito and you just sell documentaries and podcasts and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the royal family and you just complain about them. He’s got a book? What did he write a book about? Honestly, he’s the worst.”

Of course, the end of the Spotify deal wasn’t the first of failures for the Sussexes and their leftist production efforts as in May 2022 their Netflix deal had gone belly-up when the video streamer “quietly dropped Pearl, the working title of an animated series that was created by Meghan Markle through Archewell Productions, the shingle the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry set up at Netflix in the all of 2020 to create scripted series, docuseries, documentaries, features and children’s programming.”
