‘Squad’ Dems suddenly cool with ‘all lives matter’: ‘I remember being called a racist saying the exact same thing’

Far-left members of the Democrat Party have chosen to embrace the phrase “all lives matter” after years of smearing the phrase as racist.

During a press conference Friday calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict, “Squad” member Rep. Summer Lee even used the phrase herself.

“I hope and pray that when we exit this crisis, we will be able to say resoundingly, yes, we did enough because we spoke through the noise, and we stood firmly in our belief that all lives do matter — as they said when it was our turn — and that each and every one of them is precious,” she said.

“I thank the leaders of this legislation, of this resolution, I thank the leaders who have stood with us, who continue to stand, who continue to come, and that your work will not be in vain and that we call for a ceasefire now,” she added.

According to Fox News, her remarks “drew smiles and nods of approval from Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., two fellow ‘Squad’ members, who stood behind her as she spoke.”

It was a hell of a turnaround, given that it was only three years ago that anyone caught saying “all lives matter” was accused of being a white supremacist.

Recall that during the violent Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, it became a social faux pas to utter the phrase “all lives matter,” as it was considered disrespectful to the BLM movement and its cause of defending criminals.

Recall also that Democrats latched on heavily to the BLM movement and echoed its arguments and supposed points, including its claim that “all lives matter” was a racist phrase designed to demean the importance of black lives.

Yet amid the crisis in Israel, suddenly the same Democrats who sided with BLM in 2020 are now effectively siding against it by arguing that “all lives matter” as it pertains to the various factions in the Middle East, including the Israelis and the Palestinians.

But it’s not just Democrats. It’s also their allies in the media. Allies like Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah.

“It should not be controversial to assert that Palestinian lives matter just as much as Israeli lives. Or that Black lives matter just as much as white lives. These are matters of fact. The equality and value of human lives should never be up for debate,” she recently tweeted.

However, it was only years ago that the media claimed that usage of the phrase was problematic. One outlet, PsyPost, even went so far as to link usage of the phrase with so-called “implicit racism and narrow definitions of discrimination.”

“White people who reject the phrase ‘Black Lives Matter’ in favor of the phrase ‘All Lives Matter’ tend to score higher on assessments of implicit racism against black people and define racism in narrow terms, according to research published in the British Journal of Social Psychology. They are also more likely to endorse color-blind ideologies,” the site reported.

“Looking at the stats, when someone says ‘All Lives Matter,’ what they’re really saying is something like (1) I have anti-Black racist sentiments that I haven’t acknowledged, (2) I prefer not to think about race at all and (3) I define anti-Black discrimination in such narrow terms that it’s really hard to recognize it,” study author Keon West explained to PsyPost.

Dovetailing back to all the Democrats and leftists suddenly embracing the phrase, they’re now facing backlash from annoyed conservatives who haven’t forgotten how they were treated just a few short years ago.
