A Minnesota newspaper is under fire for praising Governor Tim Walz’s decision to stand behind the pardon of an illegal immigrant child sex offender.
The Minnesota Star Tribune posted a gushing “cheers” about Walz standing behind the pardon, shocking social media users and anyone with a sense of moral decency.
Look:
The Minnesota Star Tribune just gave a “Cheers” to Tim Walz for standing by his pardon of a convicted child rapist.

“Cheers to Gov. Tim Walz,” the piece reads. “The governor refused to back down from his vote to pardon a Hmong man convicted of felony sexual assault in 2006. It’s significant that Tou Lue Vang needed only two of three votes from the state Board of Pardons, but he received unanimous support. In addition to Walz, the board includes Attorney General Keith Ellison and the state Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson. Before her vote, the chief cited the letter of support for Vang submitted by the assault survivor. Also, Vang had not committed additional crimes in the past two decades.”
“The Pardons Board makes weighty, life-changing decisions after studying the cases and history,” it continues. “In this case, Vang’s pardon made him a political punching bag. Secretary of State Marco Rubio deported him to Laos. Vang’s actions 20 years ago were awful, but so were the violent protests at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and those folks received presidential pardons. Of the deportation, Walz said, ‘And by just picking them up and taking them out with no due process, it just seems unfair.’ Cheers to Walz for standing behind the pardon.”
But some details of Vang’s offense were glossed over.
“Olson did not mention that Vang’s rape victim was a minor, or that Vang raped the child several times over the period of two years. She did reference a letter from the victim addressed to the pardon board supporting Vang’s clemency,” Fox News noted.
A spokesperson gave a statement to Fox News Digital:
The Minnesota Star Tribune regularly publishes a wide range of opinions across the political spectrum. In this case, our opinion columnist agreed with a unanimous pardon by the Minnesota state board of pardons, including Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson.

HE RAPED A CHILD.
The soulless ghouls masquerading as “journalists” at the @StarTribune deserve to go bankrupt. Minnesotans have had enough of their garbage and Democrat propaganda. https://t.co/0mPiMB2xi7

“Trump pardoned a grandma who trespassed in the Capitol on January 6th so Republicans are hypocrites if they’re complaining about Walz pardoning a child rapist” is peak Star-Tribune. https://t.co/rHl3vLRuvc

Ideology is so thick, intoxicating and disorienting in Minnesota that people can read this statement from the Star Tribune and not be horrified. The State Department did the right thing in deporting this fiend. https://t.co/MplzU1B4bx
