Stephen A Smith goes OFF on ‘petty’ Dems for SOTU boycott plot

ESPN media personality Stephen A. Smith took issue with performative Democrats, who are planning to boycott and/or walk out during President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union address.

Smith, who continues to toy with the idea of running for president in 2028, declared, “This is the kind of stuff that ticks me off!”

“The president of the United States is going to give his State of the Union address, and the Democrats got other plans,” Smith noted. “So, some are talking about walking out in the middle of his speech, others are talking about boycotting it altogether and essentially finding something else to do.”

“I’m here to tell you that neither is acceptable. Neither should be acceptable. At some point in time, ladies and gentlemen, there’s got to be an adult in the room,” he added.

At least a dozen Democratic lawmakers plan to boycott Trump’s address on Tuesday, opting instead to attend a rally on the National Mall, which is being organized by some of the radical left groups that fund anti-Trump discord.

“The progressive groups MoveOn and MeidasTouch announced Wednesday that they’re hosting the ‘People’s State of the Union’ rally at 8:30 p.m. ET near the Capitol,” NBC News reported. “The event is billed as ‘counterprogramming’ to ‘President Trump’s night full of lies and misplaced priorities for the American people.'”

Social media users suggested that Democrats lose either way. They can look childish by taking their toys and going home, or look childish by sulking throughout the address.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
