Steve Bannon has a warning for Republicans about the fickle ‘oligarchs’ who will abandon them

Steve Bannon warned Republicans that the tech “oligarchs” will abandon them just as they did the Democrats and progressives.

In a CNN interview, the former White House adviser to President Donald Trump cautioned that billionaires like Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Tesla CEO as well as Elon Musk are only “temporarily” backing Trump and will end up abandoning the GOP leader soon.

“You can tell President Trump doesn’t totally trust the oligarchs. We’re putting in very tough antitrust people into the Justice Department and to the alphabet agencies,” Bannon explained to CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan on Wednesday.

“Look, I’m not a conservative, right? I’m a Republican ’cause I’m a registered Republican. I’m really a populist nationalist…,” Bannon continued.

“And by the way, those oligarchs – and people on CNN are gonna understand it – just like they’ve turned on you now, right? They’ve abandoned the progressive left. They will abandon us and do the same thing. They seek power. Right now, their feeling is they can see the math and they see that we have a built-in coalition. So they’re with us – but only temporarily,” he added.

Bannon has been vocally critical of Musk and his close connection to Trump. He acknowledged that the Tesla and SpaceX CEO is doing “great work” in leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“I’m a huge supporter of the deconstruction administrative State and what Elon’s doing in DOGE.  I’m a big supporter of that. I hope and my prayer is that these cuts are real,” Bannon added.

But he added that the tech “oligarchs ” are “techno-feudalists,” explaining that “they don’t believe in markets and profits.”

“What they believe in is digital platforms and rent seeking and that concentration of power is very dangerous,” Bannon contended.
