Democrat support for President Joe Biden being the party’s nominee in 2024 is on the upswing while Republicans are growing wary of their chances of retaking the White House if former President Donald J. Trump is on the ballot, at least according to the results of a new poll.
According to the survey which was conducted by Marist College along with government-subsidized liberal news outlets NPR and PBS, the deeply unpopular geriatric gaffe machine appears to have overcome earlier sentiment that he should be replaced atop the Democrat ticket, a monumental accomplishment made possible by months of perception management efforts by mainstream media after gas prices hit record levels last summer had many predicting that Biden’s goose was cooked.
Half of Democrats now believe that Biden is best suited to be their champion in next year’s critical presidential elections, a pivotal moment in American history when a reeling nation may have its final chance for a course correction before it is permanently altered by the “woke” left’s cultural revolution that has set up shop in the White House since his inauguration.
The Marist poll marks a major shift in sentiment among Democrats and independents with leftist views since November’s survey when Biden appeared to be on the way to being packed off into retirement by his own party.
“Half of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (50%) think their party has a better chance of winning the White House in 2024 with Biden as its nominee. 45% say another candidate would improve their chances of winning. In November 2022, it was upside down for Biden. A majority (54%) reported someone else would give the Democrats a better chance of winning while only 38% thought Biden would give them the edge,” according to Marist/NPR/PBS.
“This change in perception comes as Biden’s approval rating among Americans, overall, has inched up after his State of the Union Address last week,” Marist stated in a news release, citing polls that suggest Americans are gluttons for punishment and practically begging for more of the same that has already been inflicted upon them by the Biden regime’s ruinous agenda and left-wing policies.
But it was the poll’s numbers on Trump that will serve to further the media’s narrative that the GOP has soured on him with 54 percent believing that the conservative party needs to move on from the ex-POTUS in favor of a more traditional Republican nominee.
“54% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say the GOP has a better chance of winning the Presidency in 2024 with someone other than Trump as the party’s nominee. This is identical to last November when 54% also said it was time for another candidate to be atop the GOP ticket. 42% currently say Trump would give the GOP the advantage, up from 35%. Four percent are unsure,” Marist states. “Trump’s favorable rating among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (68%) is down from 79% last November and is his lowest favorable rating among this group since September 2016 (65%). One in four Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (25%) have an unfavorable view of the former president.”
While it is important to recognize the unreliability of polls as well as their usefulness in furthering the preferred narratives of the ruling Democratic Party, there have been rumblings that Trump isn’t the future of the Republican Party, especially with a rising star in the dashing young Ron DeSantis waiting in the wings, not to mention the proclivity of the ex-POTUS to shoot from the hip on social media, especially when it comes to the popular Florida governor on whom he has waged war from his Truth Social media platform.
Not only has Trump repeatedly smeared DeSantis as Ron “DeSanctimonious,” but even went so far as to pay a compliment to Charlie Crist, the former Republican governor of the Sunshine State who slithered into bed with Democrats, changing parties during the Barack Obama years.

“Florida was doing GREAT long before Ron DeSanctus got there. People are fleeing from New York to Florida (and other places) because of high TAXES and out of control CRIME, not because of Governor (thank you President Trump!) DeSanctimonious. Rick Scott did great, and even Charlie Crist had very good numbers. SUNSHINE AND OCEAN, very alluring!!!” Trump wrote in his latest attack on his rival who has declined to take the bait.
DeSantis pulverized the hapless party jumper by 20 points in last year’s Florida gubernatorial election
While Trump remains extremely popular and is perceived as truly caring about America and the nation’s people as evidenced by his visit to East Palestine, Ohio this week while Biden was across the pond hamming it up with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a Kyiv photo-op, he can’t resist the self-inflicted wounds that will allow for the media to manipulate the GOP primaries to clear the path for Biden’s reelection, a second term that would potentially be even more damaging and consequential to the nation than Obama’s.
It’s probably a safe bet that additional polls will amplify the findings of Marist/NPR/PBS as the 2024 election cycle will soon kick off.
