Super Bowl champs sack rumors that they plan to snub WH invite

Rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles planned to turn down the traditional White House visit for Super Bowl winners didn’t last long.

While it might be popular in some circles to snub President Donald Trump, that doesn’t appear to be the case for the Eagles. According to the Daily Mail, a league source says that the team plans to celebrate their victory in Washington D.C. “if and when they receive an invitation.”

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network took to X to clear the air, implying that the team never planned to reject the invitation, making the rumor fake news.

“The [Eagles] would be honored to visit The White House, team sources say. It’s one of the aspects of winning they are excited about and look forward to receiving the invitation,” he wrote.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also worked to quash the claim in a social media post of his own, saying “To those wondering: Eagles sources say the team is planning on visiting the White House this off-season and looks forward to receiving its invitation.”

X users reacted to the news, with many believing that “public pressure changed their tune”:
