Super Bowl MVP responds to Chiefs-Eagles Valentine’s Day jab: ‘I’ll hold you when it matters most’

In the eyes of many, Super Bowl LVII came down to a late defensive holding call on Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Tied 35-35 with 1:54 remaining in the game, the Chiefs failed to convert on the play and would have likely kicked a field goal giving the Eagles around 90 seconds to respond — instead, the team got a first down as a result of the call and proceeded to drain the clock down to 11 seconds before kicking the game-winning field goal.

On Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, Smith-Schuster sent a smack-talking Valentine via Twitter that would ultimately draw in Chiefs all-world quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his short career.

Smith-Schuster’s Valentine included a photo of Bradberry and read: “I’ll hold you when it matters most.”

Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown responded to the jab, blasting Smith-Schuster, who he called “Tik-Tok boy,” by suggesting his fading career was “resurrected” by playing with a superstar quarterback.

“First off congratulations. Y’all deserve it,” Brown tweeted. “This is lame. You was on the way out the league before mahomes resurrected your career on your 1 year deal Tik-Tok boy. He admitted that he grabbed you but don’t act like your like that or ever was. But congratulations again!”

Bradberry, who made second-team All-Pro after his first season in Philly, would later tweet: “ALL-PRO #APJB.”

Mahomes would also venture into the waters, seemingly, when he tweeted: “That man must just be bored.”

While one might surmise that Mahomes was gigging his own teammate, the tweet was widely seen as being directed at AJ Brown, who also seemed to think so when he tweeted: “He called you and told on me . Sounds about right. Yeah y’all got it … ”

The Philadelphia player apparently had second thoughts after taking time to think about WHO he was taking on and what that would entail because he deleted his offering.

With the Chiefs winning their second Super Bowl in the last four seasons, and Mahomes already being compared to the GOAT Tom Brady, he’s a rising star far too bright for the likes of AJ Brown.
