Before Donald J. Trump targeted his top Republican rival’s potential 2024 White House campaign for termination with extreme prejudice, the former president often sang the praises of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a rising GOP star whom he and his team have brutally attacked for months.
Trump’s scathing attacks on “Ron DeSanctimonious” have included trashing his leadership of the Sunshine State, something that voters who reelected him by a landslide last November would likely disagree with, and his handling of COVID, the gold standard of governors across the nation with DeSantis standing tall in the face of a ferocious media onslaught and refusing to strip Florida residents of their civil liberties, subject them to lockdowns except for the very early stages of the pandemic and push the forced vaccinations demanded by President Joe Biden and his regime.
In the supercut video compilation that is going viral after Team Trump released its “worst” list hit job on DeSantis whom it accused of “complete and total delinquency and destruction” of Florida during his tenure, the completely opposite viewpoint is expressed directly from the horse’s mouth.
SUPERCUT: President Trump explains why he chooses to live in Florida.
"One of the greatest governors in our country—and I know a lot of good ones, and I can tell you there are some really bad ones too—but this is a great one: Governor Ron DeSantis." pic.twitter.com/6J7tOgKIZ9

“Great job,” “great governor,” “spectacular job,” and “fantastic job,” are just a few of the accolades that Trump showered DeSantis with in the video that tells a vastly different story than the deluge of vicious smears churned out by Trump and his people that run the risk of alienating some Republicans and independents who could be so turned off by the nastiness that they may sit the election out if the ex-POTUS emerges at the party’s nominee, something that could inadvertently result in keeping Joe Biden and his wrecking crew in the White House for four more years to finish the job of dismantling the country.
The video compilation also serves as a trip down memory lane for the Florida leader’s stellar handling of the COVID panic in the aftermath of the state of emergency that Trump himself declared, opening the door for some of the worst abuses of power in U.S. history by Democrat governors who seized on the historic opportunity to rule like tyrants, and as DeSantis recently pointed out, the former president all but turned over the decision-making process to Dr. Anthony S. Fauci.
Governor Ron DeSantis: “Leaders take the bull by the horns and make the decisions for themselves. They don’t subcontract out their leadership to health bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci.” pic.twitter.com/tHo9O9ECP6

Reactions to the supercut collection of Trump weren’t kind to the former POTUS with one blasting him as a “political sleazeball” and expressing the sentiment that Trump’s attacks are a deal killer.
He's such a political sleazeball. Will never vote for him after this latest stunt. https://t.co/GpC2XSqtGr

The flip-flopping that Trump has done with DeSantis says more about Trump’s ego than it does about DeSantis. It’s not a good strategy.
Wish he would back off of these attacks and find a way to work with DeSantis in implementing America-first principles.

I agree with Trump – “Ron DeSantis is one of the greatest Governors in our country”.

Trump wants loyalty, but only in one direction

It’s just amazing. And all that DeSantis did between the time that Trump praised him and then began trashing him is win an election by 20 points, pass laws conservatives find very important, and govern in accordance with the wishes of those who voted him in. But what a bum right?

Trump hasn’t backed off on his relentless bashing of DeSantis and trashed the popular governor again on Sunday on Truth Social, a near-daily occurrence.
“So why would a very disloyal Ron DeSanctimonious be considered even a good politician? He was DONE when he came to see me, losing badly to Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam by insurmountable numbers. Ron was performing poorly as a candidate, getting beaten at every turn, when he asked (begged!) me for my Endorsement, which I gave him. His then losing campaign immediately turned around, & he easily won the Republican Nomination. My Rallies then won him the General…THANKS PRESIDENT TRUMP!” Trump wrote, bitterly sniping at what he perceives is a lack of deference and gratitude from DeSantis.

DeSantis has yet to officially declare his White House candidacy and has largely refrained from retaliating with some showing that Trump holds a commanding lead in the primary field which has, to this point, only drawn a handful of contenders.
