Swalwell plays victim as he’s pounded over Kash Patel’s possible release of files on him and ‘Fang Fang’

FBI Director Kash Patel is reportedly pushing for the release of investigative files related to the agency’s probe of Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) over his past romantic relationship with a female Chinese spy.

The Democrat congressman and California gubernatorial hopeful has long been plagued by his dalliances with Christine Fang, aka Fang Fang, who assisted him with fundraising back in 2014 but was, in reality, an espionage asset of the communist regime in Beijing.

Despite the grave national security implications of Swalwell possibly having sensitive pillow talk with a Chinese agent, he was rewarded with a spot on the powerful House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who defended him amid the scandal.

Now the specter of Fang Fang could be coming back to bite the smack-talking Democrat at the worst possible time, with both the New York Times and Washington Post reporting that the Patel-led FBI could once again crack open the can of worms.

“In recent days, scores of F.B.I. agents and other personnel in California were instructed to gather the documents on Mr. Swalwell and Ms. Fang, with the goal of working through the weekend to finish a review by early next week, the people said,” according to the Times, which cited the usual anonymous sources in “people familiar with the matter.”

“Supervisors advised the agents to lightly redact the records to obscure some sensitive information and told them the files would be shared with senior administration officials in Washington,” the paper reported, suggesting that the files could be “released publicly to smear” Swalwell and undermine his chances of replacing Gavin Newsom as the Golden State’s governor.

WaPo went a step further, reporting that the request came from the very top of the FBI.

Swalwell reacted to the reports with appearances on friendly media as well as playing the persecuted victim on X.

“Through great reporting, we now know the outrageous ends the White House will go to target political opponents,” he said in a statement. “The reason Trump is so desperately trying to stop me is not because I’m running for Governor of California but because now I’m the favorite.”

“Donald Trump and Kash Patel do not get to pick the next governor. Californians do,” Swalwell proclaimed.

“Donald Trump is targeting me. He’s trying to influence the election,” the amorous lawmaker wrote in another weekend post.

X users weren’t having Swalwell’s cries of victimhood.

One of Swalwell’s GOP colleagues also weighed in on the matter.

“Okay, this is the one time I’m going to advocate for @RepSwalwell: He’s definitely not smart enough to have knowingly colluded with the CCP. Now Eric, in the future, if she’s above a 6 and making passes at you, she’s definitely a spy. You’re welcome,” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said in a post to X.

“The FBI is attempting to smear a sitting U.S. Congressman, candidate for governor, and vocal opponent of the president. What the hell does that have to do with law enforcement? This is plain weaponization of the FBI for partisan political purposes,” raged Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the House Judiciary Committee’s ranking member.

The FBI has denied any sinister hidden agenda about the Swalwell files.

“The contentions in this story are incorrect,” a spokesperson for the Bureau told WaPo. “This FBI, being the most transparent in history, prepares documents for numerous different reasons, including for release to different agencies and departments to further review investigations that may have been opened under previous administrations.”
