Team Trump mocks DeSantis over visit to Nevada lamb testicle event: ‘Looking for a set of balls’

Former President Trump’s campaign team took a low blow aimed at Gov. Ron DeSantis’ manhood on Friday, mocking him for attending the annual Basque Fry in Nevada that features stewed and fried lamb testicles on the menu.

The event was originally hosted by former Republican governor and senator from Nevada Paul Laxalt who was close friends with former President Reagan. Adam Laxalt, the senator’s grandson and the state’s former state attorney general, brought the tradition back in 2016 in honor of his family’s Basque heritage. Other big-name Republicans who have attended the event include Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and former Vice President Mike Pence.

DeSantis will visit a Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, attend a rodeo, and then headline the annual Basque Fry.

“Not surprised Ron DeSantis is looking for a set of balls,” Chris LaCivita, who is a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, told NBC News when asked about DeSantis attending Saturday’s event in Gardnerville, which is attended by thousands of Republicans and conservatives from around the Silver State.

The Trump team’s obsession with men’s genitalia is more perverted than a woke grooming book,” Erin Perrine, who is a spokeswoman for the pro-DeSantis super PAC Never Back Down, stated according to the New York Post.

It’s not just DeSantis that Trump’s team is evidently striking out at. The Laxalts are reportedly throwing their support this time around behind DeSantis and it has created a rift with Team Trump.

“I was a two-time Trump chair. I don’t see a path for him to win Nevada in a general election,” Adam Laxalt bluntly stated. His super PAC, Morning in Nevada, is co-hosting the fry with Never Back Down.

“Those voters are not coming back,” he asserted, referring to Trump’s two narrow Nevada losses in 2016 and 2020.

“They’re here for the 2024 election,” Laxalt said referring to the fact that Republicans need to change if they want to win again. “I know Gov. DeSantis said this on the record, and I share the same sentiment: We’re going to have to compete in ballot harvesting and these methods — and everything could count.”

LaCivita bit back almost immediately.

“So Adam Laxalt, who lost the governor’s race in ’18 and lost the Senate race in ’22, is lecturing President Trump?” he told NBC. “That’s the pot calling the kettle black.”

Trump has been very vocal that he doesn’t believe DeSantis has what it takes to win the GOP primary. He has repeatedly called the Florida governor names and criticized his leadership over various issues.

DeSantis has clapped back, calling Trump “juvenile.” He has also accused Trump of having “moved to the left” on issues such as abortion, border security, and criminal justice since 2016.

On Friday, the DeSantis team highlighted a Fox News report that discussed the First Step Act which promotes releasing certain convicted individuals from prison early. The report notes that the act resulted in the release of a financier for the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah.

Mohamad Youssef Hammoud was convicted in 2002 and was sentenced to serve a 30-year prison term, but was released after 23 years. According to Fox News, the convict told a Lebanese outlet recently that he “would be proud to send money to Hezbollah” again.

DeSantis has branded the law a “jailbreak bill.” He has vowed to repeal it if he is elected.

Republicans are butting heads in Nevada as the party is moving toward an official state primary and away from a caucus contest. The old system would favor Trump, as Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald is a close ally of the former president.
