Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) broke his silence on the GOP primary with a statement on former President Donald Trump he’d been reluctant to make in 2016.
“We’ve got to beat this disastrous cultural Marxist agenda in the White House.”

Bookending a winning holiday weekend that saw Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Marco Rubio of Florida put their weight behind Trump ahead of his Iowa caucus victory, Cruz became the 25th member of the upper chamber to “enthusiastically” back the third White House bid.
Joining Fox News host Sean Hannity Tuesday, Cruz wasted little time in commenting on the “decisive” and “dominating” result from The Hawkeye State that put the president atop the pledged delegate count after the first official contest with 20 to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 8 and former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley at 7.
“I’m a big believer in letting democracy play out. Well, last night it played out and I gotta say, Trump’s victory was across the board, he won 51% of the vote, he won 98 of the counties,” the senator said on “Hannity” and added, “Congratulations to President Trump on that dominating victory.”
“And at this point, I believe this race is over. So I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States, I look forward to supporting him enthusiastically because I think it’s time for the Republican Party to unite, for us to come together,” asserted Cruz.
The junior senator from Texas had hardly been so definitive with his decision following the hotly contested primary in 2016 where he had finished as the runner-up to then-businessman Trump and, when speaking at the Republican National Convention, had refused to extend a full endorsement.
Instead, the then-freshman had encouraged Americans to “stand and speak and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you feel will be faithful to the Constitution,” before ultimately pledging support weeks before the election.
Cruz went on to assert, “We’ve got to beat Joe Biden. We’ve got to beat this disastrous cultural Marxist agenda in the White House. We’ve got to retake the United States Senate. We’ve got to hold the House. We gotta come together and win and with the results last night, the people have spoken, it’s time to move onward to victory in November.”
The Texas lawmaker’s sentiment was not so universally accepted as some voiced concerns over the small fraction of registered Republicans that actually participate each year in the Iowa caucus, suggesting the results were more reflective of apathy than enthusiasm, even with the severe winter weather as a factor.
110,000 of 752,000 registered Republicans voted in Iowa last night. What a disaster.
The first votes cast in America for a presidential election and we managed 15% turnout. Lmao.
Can you feel the enthusiasm?!

Continuing his argument to settle the primary based on the results of a solitary contest, Cruz contended there was no path forward for the remaining candidates.
“New Hampshire may be closely contested, we’ll see what happens…I believe in South Carolina, you’re gonna see Trump win a dominating victory in South Carolina. And after that, you’ve got Super Tuesday,” remarked the senator. “I don’t see a path for any candidate after that. And I’m a big believer, we need to let the process play out. It did and the results last night — 51%, 98 counties — that’s compelling. And at this point, I think the contrast needs to be on substance and policy and record.”
Following his endorsement on Fox News, Cruz added a statement on X and an email was sent out, each providing a link to make donations as the most recent filing for the Republican National Committee showed they had less than $10 million cash on hand as of the end of November.
