Ted Cruz has a field day with Elizabeth Warren at live rally: ‘My name is Elizabeth, call me Bob, this is my beer.’

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, had plenty of fun at the expense of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., while speaking to a crowd of about 1,500 at the seventh annual Basque Fry in Gardnerville, Nevada.

“We need courage responding to crazy town, as you saw this week,” Cruz said.

“Elizabeth Warren told reporters that a guy came up to her and said, ‘I would have voted for you if only you had a penis,'” he explained, as the crowd roared in laughter. “Now let me say two things about that. Number one, that story is a lie. Produce this fictional person — this human being does not exist, that is not even 1/1,024th true.”

(The number being a play on Warren’s infamous DNA test of her Native American ancestry.)

“But number two, in today’s Democrat Party….” Cruz continued, pausing for effect, “how do we know she doesn’t? How could you possibly know? ‘My name is Elizabeth, call me Bob, this is my beer.'”

Suffice it to say, the Republican senator and gifted orator had the crowd eating out of his hand.

The anecdote was in response to a passage from a new book from NBC News correspondent Ali Vitali examining why America hasn’t elected a female president yet, with Warren expressing her frustration from barnstorming in Iowa while lagging behind Sen. Bernie Sanders and “Mayor” Pete Buttigieg.

“’I’m responding to what people wanna hear,’ Warren told us plainly, with a characteristically biting edge in her voice. She spoke sometimes as if all the annoyance and frustration she had about the political system simmered right on the edge of her words, teeming on the top of her teeth, threatening to spill over,” Vitali writes. “We’d talked about the dynamics of Iowa, her competitors and the pressure she put on herself not ‘to screw this up.’ But here and now she offered her plainest view of the landscape yet: ‘Everyone comes up to me and says, ‘I would vote for you, if you had a penis.'”

Cruz reportedly referred to Lia Thomas, the Pennsylvania University transgender swimmer, as a “dude” at the event, adding: “He looks like Michael Phelps.”

Regardless of your take on that, Cruz was clearly a hit at the event, as seen from one social media user.

“What can I say about Ted Cruz? He was very gracious and came into a crowd and let us maul him. No other speaker at the event was that accessible,” Tiffany Anderson said. “I thought that was cool because his security was all smashed by the crowd.”
