Democrats who have been going to pieces over President Donald Trump’s remarks about the U.S. taking over Greenland have ramped up their hysteria in recent days.
Following the capture of Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, critics of the Trump administration are raising alarms that Greenland could face a military takeover, a scenario the president has not actually entertained. But that did not stop Rep. Ted Lieu from warning members of the Armed Services that if they carried out an attack on Greenland, they would be violating the law.
“There is absolutely no legal justification whatsoever to use military force against a NATO ally, against Greenland,” the California Democrat said Wednesday at a news conference.

“And if any military member — including the generals on down to enlisted members — if any of them participate in a use of military force against Greenland without congressional authorization, they are following illegal orders,” added Lieu, who serves as the vice chairman of the Democratic Caucus.
“That’s simply a fact,” he said.
In the wake of the Maduro arrest, Democrats are convinced Trump will order an invasion of the semi-autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark.
“A lawmaker and a source familiar with the discussions said Secretary of State Marco Rubio told members of Congress at a briefing on Tuesday that Mr. Trump would buy Greenland and not take it by force,” CBS News reported.
Lieu’s latest rhetoric on the issue sparked a wave of commentary on social media where X users blasted the Democrat for spreading propaganda.
