Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is receiving massive praise for his efforts to get the Save America Act passed through Congress.
Paxton is currently in a primary battle with incumbent Sen. John Cornyn. Because neither he nor Cornyn received over 50 percent of the votes in Tuesday’s election, they’re scheduled for a runoff election in May.
However, in a stunning move, Paxton posted a tweet Thursday offering to drop out of the runoff election if the Senate “agrees to lift the filibuster” so that it can pass the SAVE America Act without Democrat votes.
The Save America Act is the most important bill the U.S. Senate could ever pass, and I’m committed to helping President Trump get it done.
I would consider dropping out of this race if Senate Leadership agrees to lift the filibuster and passes the SAVE America Act.

Paxton continued his tweet by ripping into Cornyn.
“John Cornyn is a coward who has refused to support abolishing the filibuster to pass this bill,” he wrote. “Now, Fake News reporters and the establishment are trying to destroy me with misinformation.”
“The truth is clear: No one has been more loyal to Donald Trump than me—fighting the stolen 2020 election, being in Mar-a-Lago when he announced his 2024 campaign, and standing with him in NY in the face of lawfare. For the good of our country and for the good of passing President Trump’s agenda, I am determined to help him get this done,” he added.
Paxton’s tweet prompted praise from Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet, who also serves as the executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show.”
“In one day, Ken Paxton did more to support the President and pass the Save America Act than most senators have done in their entire career,” Kolvet tweeted Thursday. “And he’s still just a candidate. It’s a good indication of how he’d perform in the Senate.”
Still marveling at the chess move from Paxton. He’s willing to consider bowing out of the race if it guarantees one of President Trump’s signature pieces of legislation. This puts Thune in a vise-grip. He either has to choose between actually fighting for a piece of legislation…

Cornyn, meanwhile, responded to Paxton’s tweet by alleging in a tweet of his own that he supports the Save America Act and has “encouraged Senate Republicans to get it done.”
There’s just one problem — the senator has expressed reluctance about doing what’s necessary to actually pass the bill.
“My understanding is it would require 51 votes to table amendments,” Cornyn recently told NBC News. “So No. 1, you need 51 senators on the floor, and you need all of them willing to vote to table the amendment. That obviously can be problematic from a number of standpoints.”
“One, you might not be able to defeat them. And secondly, this process could go on for literally weeks, if not months, and still not be successful,” he added.
Critics say not lifting the filibuster means accepting defeat to the left, if not worse. There’s a high likelihood, critics allege, that Democrats will lift the filibuster themselves the next time they’re in power.
Plus, critics maintain, Republicans will “never” have a filibuster-proof majority.
“There is no conceivable scenario where that is ever going to happen,” conservative commentator Matt Walsh recently tweeted. “It’s a laughable idea, frankly. So either we barrel through and advance our agenda by force, filibuster be damned, or it will never happen. Those are your choices.”
If you’re willing to accept the “filibuster” excuse for Republicans not passing the SAVE act, or any other significant piece of actual conservative legislation, then what you’re saying is that you’re okay with Republicans in congress never passing any conservative legislation…

The good news is there’s a way to “lift” the filibuster without totally excising it out of existence: via a “talking filibuster.”
“So long as all Senate Republicans who have either co-sponsored or publicly supported the legislation show up and present a live quorum, Democrats would have to talk nonstop in order to delay a vote that would require just 51 votes to pass the legislation, rather than the typical 60-vote threshold filibuster,” according to The Federalist.
