While WWE legend ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan is well past his professional prime at the age of 68, the former pro wrestler still had enough in the tank to take down a home intruder.
The WWE Hall of Famer known for toting around a 2×4 wrestled the man to the ground and held him at gunpoint with a .44 caliber pistol, according to Wrestling Inc.
“Thank you to the @KershawCountySC Sheriff’s Office and thank you to my fans and friends for the well wishes!” Duggan tweeted, while sharing his account of the incident.

Duggan told the wrestling publication that an intruder broke into his South Carolina home around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, entering through the front door. Explaining that he took the man in his mid-20s to the ground, Duggan said he grabbed his .44 caliber pistol and held him at gunpoint.
“Duggan and his wife, Debra, noted that after the man entered, they heard other people yelling in their neighborhood,” Wrestling Inc. reported. “Duggan, concerned that more people might be headed his way, had his Christmas lights turned off and told the intruder to be quiet. The intruder, who the Duggans described as hysterically frightened, claimed that people from a nearby home were coming after him to kill him, after which Duggan kept his gun on his lap and his hand on the intruder’s back until the police arrived.”

The man was apparently seeking refuge, according to Duggan, and had pounded on other doors in the neighborhood before climbing over the Duggans’ fence and entering through their unlocked door.
“Thank God we didn’t shoot him,” Duggan told Wrestling Inc. — he did not press charges when the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department arrived to apprehend the intruder.
