Fetterman counters AOC clapback after saying MTG catfight worse than ‘Jerry Springer’

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D) positioned himself as the adult in the room after a House committee catfight brought out New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D) claws.

The liberal lawmaker’s growing reputation of consistency set him at odds with the five boroughs’ socialista this week after he sounded off on the tag team fracas that included her and Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) against Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R). Slights over “racism and misogyny” left Fetterman unmoved on CNN’s “State of the Union” as he told host Jake Tapper, “That’s absurd.”

“I was just simply responding to the kind of chaos and everything that Representative Greene started as well,” he continued.

On Friday, the freshman senator had reacted to the conflict that had erupted in a House Oversight Committee hearing regarding consideration to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress by captioning a CNN headline, “In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today I’m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.”

Bristled by the barb, Ocasio-Cortez had attempted to score points against the unapologetic ally to Israel and cut, “I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue. But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one. And to the women of Pennsylvania: I’d stand up for you too. Enjoy your Friday.”

Fetterman furthered his equal opportunity dig at the House spectacle that had seen Greene critique Crockett’s eyelashes while the Texas Democrat coined the phrase, “beach blonde bad built butch body,” in targeting the Peach State politician — a line she had since endeavored to capitalize on with a tremendous fail that saw her spelling her own last name wrong.

“And if everyone on the committee was proud of what they’ve produced, they’re entitled to their opinion. Or if they feel that this is the kind of video that you want to send to a classroom of eighth grade civics kind of students across America,” the congressman said, “again, that’s their choice.”

The slights didn’t stop there as the senator also took digs at the bickering lawmakers over their individual voting records and while he slammed Greene by name, he hadn’t held back when calling out anti-American postures from Ocasio-Cortez that included siding with Hamas sympathizers.

“But if I’m gonna push back against anything, it’s gonna be pushing back against Hamas and not vote against Israel,” Fetterman told Tapper. “And I’m gonna push back against Putin. I’m not gonna vote against the aid for Ukraine the way Representative Greene has done. And then I’m also gonna push back against the TikTok vote as well and now TikTok is essentially a Chinese Communist government asset.”
