As Americans struggle to put food on their own table, many are beginning to question the seemingly-endless amount of money that the United States government is providing Ukraine.
Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., took to Twitter Wednesday to openly question why so much funding for Ukraine’s fight against invading Russian forces is being hidden in American legislation that has nothing to do with foreign wars.
“Why is Ukraine funding buried in the bill that averts a shutdown of our own government? Why was previous Ukraine funding linked to hurricane disaster relief for Florida?” he asked. “Why is Zelensky speaking to Congress tonight? Because Americans are growing very weary of funding this war. ”
Why is Ukraine funding buried in the bill that averts a shutdown of our own government?
Why was previous Ukraine funding linked to hurricane disaster relief for Florida?
Why is Zelensky speaking to Congress tonight?
Because Americans are growing very weary of funding this war.

The good people of Twitter had quite a bit to say:
Because it’s all about the money. Follow the money and where it ends up (audit Ukraine) and you’ll know why the funding is buried in bills that will pass.

I’m certainly weary of nigh endless open ended funding. I’d love for us to be able to help, but we don’t have infinite money. So yeah, I’d like to know how those funds are being used, if there’s a time table for this war eventually ending, and other stuff like that.

Thank you! And why is it going through…. do something!

Growing weary? No Americans have ever wanted anything to do with this war. It’s money laundering only.

Because our government is crooked…

Why is there no accounting of the billions sent there,it but 87k new IRS agents funded to investigate what you sold on Facebook marketplace and for how much.

That’s why it’s hidden, it doesn’t explain why it’s there. It’s there because very powerful interests want money to be moved likely to defense contractors

I feel like it’s high time to draft legislation that requires foreign aid to be voted on separately – not as a line item within the fed gov’s annual budget.

It’s misdirection. They are cloaking their theft with “the fight for democracy.” You should get Rep. Bishop and Sen Johnson on a spaces right now to run through all the wasteful spending. God knows our press won’t do it. They are part of this current misdirection.
