‘The biggest crap I have ever heard’: Epstein’s brother inserts himself into DOJ, Maxwell saga

Justice Department arrangements to speak with Ghislaine Maxwell found Jeffrey Epstein’s brother opining on a motive as he responded to “the biggest crap” he’s heard.

Tuesday, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that the DOJ was expected to meet with the late convicted sex offender’s associate to ask her about what she knows. Following that release, Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, disputed that premise and instead offered a cynical take while pushing the idea of closer ties with President Donald Trump than admitted.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Epstein argued the conversation with Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking, would hardly be a productive one. “They’ll talk to her and ask her what her favorite color is. So they can say they talked to her. It depends on what the conversation is about. Maybe she’ll be afraid to speak, afraid they’ll hold it against her and turn down her appeal.”

He also pointed out that, “She could certainly verify that Trump was in Jeffrey’s office many times,” as a statement from the White House had recently refuted that again. On the denial, Epstein suggested it was “the biggest crap I’ve ever heard,” and, “I would speak to Jeffrey and he’d say he was with Trump. I know people in his office saw him there.”

The late financier’s brother furthered that argument on CNN’s “Erin Burnett Outfront” on Tuesday when he told the host, “I mean, look, I understand people trying to distance themselves from Jeffrey because of what he was charged with and the circumstances he found himself in. I understand that, you know, but I know that they were good friends and I witnessed it myself.”

In support of his claim, Epstein provided an anecdote where he told Burnett, “I was talking to Jeffrey, and he told me that he was talking to Donald, and he asked Donald, ‘How come you sleep with so many married women?’ And Donald’s answer was, ‘Because it’s so wrong.'”

“Now, amongst guys, it was a funny line. Then, where we were on the plane a week or two later, Jeffrey asked Donald the same question. I know he did that for my benefit so that I could hear Donald say it. And Jeffrey asked him, ‘How come you sleep with so many married women?’ and Donald said, ‘Because it’s so wrong,'” recounted the brother who went on, “For Jeffrey to ask him that question … he would have to know that Donald slept with a lot of married women. And he probably got that information from Donald. And also, that’s not the kind of question you ask a casual acquaintance … That’s a question you ask a good friend that you can get away with asking those kinds of questions. So that gives you an idea of how friendly they were.”

As had been reported, while the president called for the release of all “credible evidence” and pushed for Epstein grand jury transcripts to be unsealed, corporate media leaned into pushing claims about how close the then-businessman was with the sex offender, including that of a former employee who told the New York Times about an alleged time Trump left her “feeling scared” at Epstein’s office.

To that claim, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung replied, “The president was never in his office. The fact is that the president kicked him out of his club for being a creep.”
