Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis triggered leftists as he called out detainees at Alligator Alcatraz for allegedly complaining about their ham sandwiches.
The Republican leader defended the conditions at the immigration detention center in the Everglades during remarks he delivered in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday. Pushing back on claims by family members and others advocating for the migrants illegally in the U.S., DeSantis expressed his outrage over complaints about the sandwiches not being “toasted.”
LMAO! Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just said illegals at Alligator Alcatraz are complaining “the ham sandwiches aren’t toasted.”
“Excuse me? I mean, give me a BREAK.”

“So they’re making these claims and they’re saying, ‘Oh, they’re not fed well.’ First of all, they’re fed the same that the staff is fed,” DeSantis said.
“It’s not a prison; it’s a deportation processing center, so it is different. But, like in Florida prisons, do you think the prisoners get the same meals as the guards? No, of course not. It’s different,” he continued. “Listen, everyone’s the same there.”
The former GOP presidential candidate then addressed one outrageous complaint.
“They were mad that the ham sandwiches weren’t toasted. Excuse me? I mean, give me a break,” he said.
“DHS required there to be certain things,” DeSantis added. “I know the legal was a part of that. There is recreation. I know that people say there’s not and there is.”
The ongoing references to the center as a “concentration camp” by critics and now the dining emergencies left social media users frustrated but appreciative of DeSantis’ blunt reality check.
They were given the option to go home before they were sent to Alligator Alcatraz, if they’d taken that option they could’ve had toasted ham sandwiches at home.

I believe it, when they were throwing away food from three star hotels because they weren’t “culturally appropriate.” FO

If your illegal entry came with a Yelp review, you’re not in a crisis, you’re on vacation.
“Not toasted”? Try breaking into any other country and complaining about your sandwich.
DeSantis treating the border like a sovereign nation would , not a resort.
