The Texas Organizing Project that bailed out Shane James, 34, is ostensibly backed by millions in left-wing dark money, according to tax filings. The group received millions from George Soros’ philanthropic network and other major liberal organizations according to KSAT.
James served as a U.S. Army Infantry officer from February 2013 to August 2015. He is now being charged with multiple counts of capital murder.
“In January 2022, James was charged with aggravated assault against his mother, father, and sister, Fox San Antonio reported. Bail records said James was bonded out by Texas Organizing Project, a non-profit focused on progressive issues that helped elect Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales and county Sheriff Javier Salazar,” Fox News reported.
“The group advocates for a number of liberal causes, including immigrant rights, healthcare justice, voting rights, and climate justice, according to its website,” the news outlet noted.

After being released on bail, James cut off his ankle monitor in violation of his bond. He barricaded himself in a bedroom when the police cornered him the day before the shooting spree. The suspect was naked and shouting slurs at the officers. but was not taken into custody, according to USA Today.
He is now the prime suspect in a string of attacks that took place from San Antonio to Austin resulting in two police officers and a bicyclist being shot as well as six people being killed, according to the media outlet.
After the shootings occurred, the Texas Organizing Project issued a statement saying the organization was “profoundly saddened and deeply troubled by the tragic events” involving James.
The suspect was originally bailed out by the group in coordination with Bexar County’s Public Defender’s Office on misdemeanor charges.

“We take our responsibilities seriously and acknowledge that we must address both the immediate impact of this tragedy and the broader implications for our bail program,” the group said vowing to review its policies while asserting that “our assessments cannot anticipate the future actions of individuals.”
The suspect is now being held in the Travis County jail with no bond.
According to the Austin American-Stateman, James tried to escape from the jail after being arrested but failed.
“Shane James, the former U.S. Army officer arrested in connection with Tuesday’s rampage that left six people dead and injured three others, including two police officers, attempted to escape from the Travis County Jail on Wednesday, court records show. Deputies had to use force to restrain him,” the outlet stated.
Anger was widespread on X over the suspect being set free only to slaughter innocent people:
To the surprise of no one.

They’d bail him out again if they could.

“In January 2022, James was charged with aggravated assault against his mother, father and sister”
The problem isn’t that he was bailed out, it’s that the charges were reduced or dropped and he remained free. He then killed his mother and father, among others.

I almost feel like the progressives are goading people into vigilantism to make more claims about far-right extremists and take some other draconian action.

The left is the problem. Not guns.
