The Office star goes full climate nutjob, changes his name to raise awareness

“The Office” star Rainn Wilson has ridiculously decided to raise awareness concerning climate change by changing his name to “Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson” on most of his social media accounts in honor of the United Nations conference in Egypt this week.

The off-kilter actor made the announcement on Twitter Wednesday. He has also changed his name on Arctic Basecamp’s website via the Arctic Risk Name Generator. Wilson is a board member of the organization.

He said at the beginning of the video uploaded to Twitter, “As a cheap little stunt to help save planet Earth, I’ve changed my name on Twitter, Instagram and even on my fancy writing paper.” It is currently not clear if Wilson has legally changed his name.

“With the help of my scientist friends at Arctic Basecamp, I’ve changed my name to ‘Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson,'” he declared in a video. “This is not a joke, I’m as serious as the melting Arctic, which amplifies global risks, including extreme weather events around the globe.”

“I’m hoping this name change brings attention to this growing … er, melting issue. We need world leaders at COP27 to take notice and take action. The Arctic is melting at millions of liters per second, yet this problem can’t seem to make a name for itself, so it’s up to us to make a name for it,” he admonished.

“Go to ArcticRiskName.org and create a name that will bring attention to this problem. Then — and this is the important part — change your social media profile or display name to match your new ArcticRisk name. And if enough of us do this, then maybe COP27 will be where our world leaders sit up and notice Arctic risks and introduce a solution,” Wilson asserted.

He also took a swing at the new CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, because the platform would not allow him to change his name due to company policies.

“P.S. THEY WON’T LET ME CHANGE MY NAME BECAUSE, ELON!” he childishly tweeted.

Wilson called on other Hollywood celebrities to take part in the impressively stupid name nonsense. He mentioned Leonardo DiCaprio, Cardi B, Jack Black, and Samuel L. Jackson along with others.

Mockery immediately ensued on Twitter:
