‘They hate to see two woke b**ches winning’: US Olympic medalist, Trump critic, lashes out

Team USA Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn is firing back at her critics after winning a gold medal.

Glenn previously went viral for speaking out about the “queer” experience under President Donald Trump, and subsequently took a break from social media, citing “hate” comments. But on Tuesday, she was ready to fire back after taking the gold in the team event alongside Alysa Liu. She took to TikTok with photos of  her and Liu overlaid with the sound “Hoe’s Mad.”

“They hate to see two woke b**ches winning,” the caption reads. “If ‘Woke’ means people who use their platforms to advocate for marginalized communities in the country that they are actively representing …… Then yeah sure?”

The response comes after she received backlash for her response to being asked how she feels about competing for the United States this year.

“It’s been a hard time for the community overall under this administration. It isn’t the first time that we’ve had to come together as a community and try to fight for our human rights,” she said of the LGBT community. “Now, especially, it’s not just affecting the queer community but many other communities and I think that we are able to support each other in a way that we didn’t have to before and because of that, it’s made us a lot stronger. I hope I can use my platform and my voice throughout these games to encourage people to stay strong in these hard times.”

“I know a lot of people say, ‘You’re just an athlete. Stick to your job. Shut up about politics.’ But politics affects us all. It is something that I will just be quiet about because it is something that affects us in our everyday lives. So, of course, there are things that I disagree with, but as a community we are strong, and we support each other, and brighter days are ahead of us,” she added.

Afterward, she posted a since-expired Instagram story expressing her disappointment in the people she says sent her “hate/threats.”

“When I chose to utilize one of the amazing things about the United States of America (Freedom of speech) to convey how I feel as an athlete competing for Team USA in a troubling time for many Americans, I am now receiving a scary amount of hate/threats for simply using my voice WHEN ASKED about how I feel,” she wrote. “I did anticipate this, but I am disappointed by it. I will be limiting my time on social media for my own wellbeing for now but I will never stop using my voice for what I believe in.”
