‘They want this to happen’: Ted Cruz says Biden is ‘cheering’ on ‘full on invasion’ at the border

Last week Sen. Ted Cruz torched the Biden administration over its abysmal response to the crisis erupting along the southern U.S. border and accused both the administration and the president himself of wanting this to happen.

As previously reported, last week the administration officially ended Title 42, a policy that had made it significantly easier to reject asylum claims from migrants.

As a result, the influx of illegal aliens/migrants crossing the border reached a fevered pitch, with tens of thousands of migrants crossing into the U.S. on a daily basis.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Wednesday, two days before Title 42 was set to end, Cruz outright accused President Joe Biden of wanting this to happen.

Listen:

“On Monday, the Border Patrol apprehended over 10,000 illegal immigrants. Yesterday, the Border Patrol apprehended over 10,000 illegal immigrants. Those are both records. And this is a full on invasion. It is a crisis. And the Biden administration is cheering it on … they want this to happen. They want more people to come in, and they don’t care about the body bags that are piling up,” he said.

“They don’t care about the women being sexually assaulted. They don’t care about the children being brutalized. They don’t care about the over 100,000 drug overdoses that we had last year, two thirds of which were from Chinese fentanyl coming across the southern border. And I gotta tell you, my home state of Texas is paying the price. And in Texas, we are furious about it. We’re frustrated,” he added.

Cruz continued by slamming the whiny Democrat governors who’ve complained about border states/cities shipping relatively small amounts of migrants to them.

“Democrat mayors are freaking out and declaring a crisis. The Democrat mayor of Chicago, the Democrat mayor of Washington, D.C., and the Democrat mayor where you are in New York City declares it a crisis when he gets even a few illegal immigrants. We’ve had over six and a half million cross under Joe Biden and 50 show up at Martha’s Vineyard and the woke lefties there declared a full on humanitarian crisis,” he said.

“I filed legislation for the federal government to send illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, to Nantucket, to Rehoboth Beach, to Napa Valley, to every place rich liberals sip wine and eat cheese and say, well, it’s not our problem because they’re terrified when it actually becomes their problem. They just want to inflict it on the rest of America,” he added.

By Sunday, two days after Title 42 ended, the situation was worse than ever. Yet instead of displaying even the slightest introspection, the administration was continuing to double down on its irresponsible, damaging policies.

For example, on Thursday a judge issued a temporary restraining order forbidding the administration from releasing migrants into the U.S. without a court date. How did the administration respond? By crying foul and appealing the ruling.

“So let me just say on the ruling that you just laid out to me: So, look, the way we see that — it’s sabotage. It’s pure and simple. That’s how that reads to us,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing Friday.

So it’s “sabotage” to stop the administration from releasing an endless stream of migrants into the interior of the United States? Critics were left completely befuddled by her statement. Particularly journalist Bill Melugin of Fox News:

The only ones doing anything substantive about the border crisis are GOP governors like Texas’ Greg Abbott and Florida’s Ron DeSantis.

“Governor Greg Abbott today announced the deployment of the new Texas Tactical Border Force to the Texas-Mexico border to respond to the growing border crisis at Austin Bergstrom International Airport in Austin,” according to a press release from Abbott’s office published last week.

“With President Joe Biden ending Title 42 this Thursday, the Governor is enhancing Texas’ unprecedented border security efforts with the tactical deployment of hundreds of Texas National Guard soldiers to join the thousands already deployed as part of Operation Lone Star and serve on the new border force for targeted responses as the nation braces for an expected spike in illegal immigration.”

Meanwhile, Meanwhile, according to DeSantis’ office, last week he signed the “strongest anti-illegal immigration legislation in the country.”
