New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash for inviting an anti-American Islamist to Gracie Mansion instead of the hero cops who stopped an Islamic terror attack.
Two Islamist suspects threw IEDs at anti-Islam protesters outside Gracie Mansion last Saturday while yelling “Allahu Akbar.”
The attack was stopped by police chief Aaron Edwards, the commander of the Patrol Borough Manhattan North, and Sgt. Luis Navarro:

Yet following the hubbub, Mamdani invited Islamist Mahmoud Khalil to Gracie Mansion for dinner, not Edwards and Navarro. Khalil is known for his celebration and promotion of terrorism.
His invitation to Khalil prompted a condemnation from the Anti-Defamation League.
“Welcoming someone known for justifying the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks as an honored guest at Gracie Mansion — while some in the Mayor’s inner circle have amplified antisemitic content and posts dismissing the atrocities of that day — sends a deeply troubling message,” an ADL spokesperson told Jewish Insider.
The New York Post’s editorial board also slammed Mamdani.

“What a statement Mayor Zohran Mamdani could have made — if he’d hosted those two hero cops instead of a terror sympathizer at Gracie Mansion on Sunday night,” the board wrote in an editorial published Tuesday.
“Having the two Finest at a Gracie Mansion meal the next evening would’ve signaled major respect for the men and women in blue who keep the city safe, and a rejection of the hateful brand of Islam that inspired the suspects,” they added.
Instead, the board lamented, Mamdani “chose to make a public point of hosting anti-Israel organizer Mahmoud Khalil for a Ramadan dinner to mark the one-year anniversary of his initial detention in his still ongoing deportation case.”
The local police union is also mad:
🚨NYPD officers are furious with Mayor Mamdani after ISIS-inspired bomb attempt.
“Instead of hosting the 2-star police chief who LEAPED over the barricades and RAN this guy down who threw the bomb, the mayor hosts MAHMOUD KHALIL!”

The mayor is facing similar criticisms on social media.
“It’s like Hitler and his wife Eva Braun are living in Gracie Mansion,” one critic bluntly tweeted. “Mamdani’s wife cheered. OCT 7th. That’s freaking sick. She should be deported.”
She has indeed been caught cheering the Oct. 7 terror attack.
“Did you discuss how you could assist him with ‘the total eradication of western civilization?'” one critic tweeted directly at Mamdani. “That is his stated goal. But I’m sure that amuses you as you sit smugly in Gracie mansion. Enjoy it now because it won’t last long.”
It’s true that Khalil has spoken about wanting to tear down all of Western civilization.

TOTALLY offensive !!! & grossly insensitive. Zohran’s neighbors nearly blown to smithereens & police risked their lives.
Maybe have them over to dinner?
But no, u have this jerk to Gracie Mansion & whine about “his profound hardships?!”
Returning to his home NOT a hardship

As for Edwards and Navarro, they’re taking their newfound fame in stride.
“I always say, we’re all cops, right?” Edwards told the New York Post, explaining his rationale for taking action. “Regardless of rank, regardless of life, regardless of position, you’re a cop first. Once a cop, always a cop. When you see danger, you have that cop in you. You react to it.”
