A vulgar license plate seemingly targeting President Trump is being pulled after a year of going under the radar.
The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission is recalling the plate that reads “FDT 8647,” which allegedly slipped through the cracks over a year ago.
A photo of the plate on a Subaru Outback was shared on the X account Wake Up New Jersey:
How in absolute hell did our @NJ_MVC approve this license plate FDT8647!? pic.twitter.com/FCbYYF1ByP

The NJ DMV regularly rejects vanity plates for “political vulgarity or coded insults,” but this one was approved in April 2025, NJ.com reported.
The term “8647” was used by former FBI director James Comey in a now-infamous social media post. Comey has been indicted under the premise that the code is widely known to be referenced in killing or eliminating something or someone.
Later, Wake Up New Jersey posted a video questioning if the approval of the plate was truly an error and asked, “Where are we at as a society, where this is ok?”
Why did the @NJ_MVC approve this plate that says F Donald Trump and 8647 him 🧐!?
This isn’t funny, it’s literally calling for the death of a sitting president, where did society go wrong where this is acceptable? https://t.co/x9SYONOSUW pic.twitter.com/Gt7nBY7EMk

Despite three known assassination attempts on President Trump’s life, the violent rhetoric against him doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Star Wars actor Mark Hamill recently deleted a fresh post depicting Trump in a grave after backlash.
News of the vulgar New Jersey license plate also drew plenty of spirited reaction on X:
Shocking that’s it’s on a SUBARU! What shade of blue is the driver’s hair?

Hopewell is full of Princeton wannabes and Jersey DMV is a joke.
Suspend the registration, seize the tag, charge the driver and fire the DMV employee. Actions have consequences

Ha, ha, ha.
Fire anyone in the DMV that was involved in allowing this plate to be made.
