The White House slammed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Thursday after the Democrat had the nerve to demand that President Donald Trump “turn the temperature down.”
In a written note posted to his X (formerly Twitter) profile early Thursday, Walz made “a direct appeal” to Trump to “turn the temperature down” and “stop this campaign of retribution.”

Walz made the remarks after the president threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act against Minnesota to rein in the extremely violent riots that have been engulfing Minneapolis ever since U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were deployed there.
“If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
Responding to the governor’s plea, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson couldn’t help but notice that he and his allies are the ones who’ve been turning up the heat with their radical rhetoric.
“Tim Walz, Jacob Frey, and Democrat leaders in Minnesota have done nothing but turn up the temperature, smear heroic ICE officers, and incite violence against them — all in defense of criminal illegal aliens,” she told Fox News in a statement.
“In Minnesota, ICE has arrested rapists, drug traffickers, domestic abusers, and more, despite Democrat opposition. The Trump Administration will protect the American people and enforce the law without apology. The only statement Tim Walz should be making is an apology. He has repeatedly compared ICE officers to Nazis and lied about their important work, including in his speech just last night,” she added.
In addition to smearing ICE agents as Nazis, Walz has even shamelessly claimed that immigration agents are ransacking homes in Minneapolis, specifically in search of “people of color” (versus illegal aliens):
⚠️IMPORTANT⚠️
I don’t say this lightly, but everyone needs to watch this.
I think we just witnessed Tim Walz incite an insurrection. He is trying to paint ICE as the equivalent to the Gestapo, claiming they are hunting down all “people of color” and “asking for papers”.

The White House’s Rapid Response team, which operates an account on X, also responded to Walz’s plea.
“Tampon, you gave a statewide address last night calling for ICE agents to be prosecuted for enforcing the law, so you might want to sit this one out,” the account tweeted Thursday afternoon. “You’re a pathetic failure and total disgrace.”
Attached to the tweet was a video of Walz doing exactly what he had just been accused of doing:

“Help us establish a record of exactly what’s happening in our communities,” Walz said in the video above. “You have an absolute right to peacefully film ICE agents as they conduct these activities. So, carry your phone with you at all times.”
“And if you see these ICE agents in your neighborhood, take out that phone and hit record. Help us create a database of the atrocities against Minnesotans, not just to establish a record for posterity. But to bank evidence for future prosecution,” he added.
The public also ripped into Walz and his plea:

You’ve spent the entire 2026 year so far saying your state is “at war” with the federal government.
You are quite literally fanning the flames of chaos.

We should turn the temperature down.
And saying “that’s what he wants” in the same message is not the way to do it.
