While Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) blames Republicans for her primary loss, MS NOW host Joe Scarborough is crediting them.
The Morning Joe co-host claims that state Rep. James Talarico’s victory over Crockett can be attributed to the GOP trying to “game the system” over a Stephen Colbert interview.

It all started several weeks ago when Talarico joined The Late Show‘s Colbert, who claims that CBS stopped him from airing the interview. The network challenged this narrative, claiming it merely advised the show consistent with the FCC’s “equal time rule” reading. Scarborough says that this moment is what launched the state representative to victory over Crockett, mocking the GOP’s alleged attempt to shut down the interest in Talarico.
“I swear, I just wish these Republicans weren’t so stupid. I wish they’d listen to me. I’m trying to help them out a little bit here, just to make it a fair fight in the fall. But what did we say? What did we say? First of all, when they took Colbert off the air? You’re going to pay for it. They did pay for it with South Park 3 or 4 days later, deciding they’re going to lean in even harder. Right?” Scarborough said.
“And so here they try to keep Talarico off the show. What happens? They give him a boost. If you talk to Jasmine Crockett, she’ll say the same thing – ‘I was ahead until that controversy.’ So the very person they were trying to defeat, the very person whose message scared them, is the very person who they helped win this race!” he exclaimed. “It just keeps happening over and over. They think they can game the system. They think that somehow, they’re going to be able to win. In the end, voters have the final say.”
He went on to mention the same issue Crockett complained about following her loss: Dallas polling station confusion.
“To that point, though, I do want to bring up one thing that happened last night before we move on. And I had a lot of Democrats that were… that are campaign veterans, have been in campaigns over the past 20 years, reaching out to me last night saying, look what’s happening in Texas right now. They’ve changed where people vote. There’s a lot of confusion. A judge said, okay, we’re going to give you a two-hour extension, and so you can go vote in those two hours. So nobody will be disenfranchised because of a change of polling places. Then the Texas Supreme Court steps in and says, no, no, no, we’re not. If you voted, if you weren’t in line at the time prescribed, even if there was confusion, it was the government’s part. Too bad, your votes aren’t going to be counted,” he said.
Crockett spoke to an audience and gave the same assessment, essentially accusing Republicans of cheating with the move.
“Unfortunately, this is what Republicans like to do… and so they specifically targeted Dallas county, and I think we all know why,” she moaned. “So, I want you to enjoy yourself, but I won’t be back tonight because I don’t know when we will fully get results, and I don’t anticipate it will be until tomorrow.”
